I dry mine, then chop/grind and store em in "00" size capsules in baggies @ 2gms a piece. You don't taste em at all that way and they store for 6mos. - a year (and then some, sometimes.) Hadn't noticed much of a potency loss from the tea I used to make back east. (Then again, that might be because I usually find luteofolius out here, they may be more potent generally.) This works pretty well for me because I find a lot more than I would want to consume and we've got all the other stronger varieties popping up out here at the same time.

If you find gobs and gobs of em, you might consider keeping 'em that way.

Ate a couple fresh ones plain. Mildly bitter, not too bad.

it is impossible to "guess" whether these are G. validipes or G. spectabilis from the current information.
i will say that they do bear some similarities to both species.
if we had more mature specimens, we might be able to take a better crack at it.
also, micro would go a long way here.

with that being said, they are more than likely G. spectabilis, which is said to be bitter.
G. validipes is said to be "mild."

G. validipes is likely a lot more "rare" than some people, seem to think.

at any rate, they are both active species...

if you do see these fruit again, please let them mature and dry a few specimens for me...
i would love to look at them...

I have a cap that was opened fully. Spore print took all night. Rusty orange. Pretty big. Happy to send it to you. How does that work? Isn't that risky?
