Looks more like Psathyrella to me or maybe even Hypholoma. Pics aren't very clear.

The bruising. The gills The margin of the cap. The color of the stem. Those are the most apparent things.

Red Brown is definitely wrong for cyans...
Cyans are also typically slightly wavy by middle age.... and almost always blue...
i have had a few fainter bluers that made me question what I had, the blue was limited to the margin of the caps... but after further assessment they were definitely cyans.

Personally, I have never found them growing from an old mossy log ither... however its not impossible... just very unlikely.

Cyans will have a wavy cap with a pellicle, and more caramel to chest-nut coloration, bruising blue. Hypholoma dispersum is heading in the right direction as a little brown mushroom, so you're getting close. Good post.

Here's a Small Stand. Shows the fibrous sheen of the stem... Bluing of all parts of the fruiting body (including the mycelium).. The Wavy-wave of the caps.

Either H. dispersum, or H. marginatum, im leaning towards the former, conifer?
