Bugs can survive the pressure cooker, I've had them grow before and have read other posts of them doing so as well so I know it's not just me, normally they'll show up within a week though and obviously as a result of an improper sterilization. Oddly everytime it's happened for me there has however been no signs of other contaminants, though of course I didn't keep the jars around long to truly confirm that.

If bugs survive the PC then bacteria and mold surely always would too. The steam alone without pressure at 212F is going to denature enough proteins in every single bug(animal kingdom bugs) that it will not live. Let alone the PC which takes care of 99+% of bacterial endospores. You're using your pressure cooker wrong.

If you're using polyfil as a filter then maybe the bug came through the ge hole some how.

I'm not particularly questioning that fact, but laying blotter from liquid to me seems like saying you make cocaine by taking cocaine and then adding baking soda. Sure, that might be a step in the process of what you just put up your nose, but that has nothing to do with making cocaine. That would be the equivalent of taking a fresh mushroom, rolling it in vermiculite before drying it, and then saying you found a way to make the mushrooms more potent simply because it weighs more. All you're doing by that is throwing impurities in the product.

I think I figured this out. You need to get into rehab because you're on some shit.

Other than sagescruffy no one is actually offering constructive advice or information of any kind here. I'm using a siliconed felt filters on that particular jar btw so I doubt any bugs got in through that. At this point I'm thinking I must have opened the jar and simply forgot because as I mentioned the rubber seal was broken which typically does not happen.

Otherwise a lot of you are just coming in here, bashing me for sharing and seeking information, however naive such questions to you may seem, giving me bad ratings, insulting my ideas, offering no real advice of any kind, and ironically then proceeding to call *me* the troll. Go take a look in the mirror or take a minute of self reflection, you may be surprised what you see.

Asking seemingly stupid questions is often a path to quite intelligent answers. People called Einstein eccentric and literally told him he was crazy. I'm sure if Alexander Fleming asked on a forum what beneficial properties this blue-green mold growing in a petri might have a lot of people would likewise put no thought into calling him a troll. Don't be afraid to seek knowledge, no matter how stupid you may look in the process, this is how discoveries are made and the world advances.

Probably keep flying around... or die. He's trapped in a jar for fucks sake.

Quote:

The top is fully colonized like I said, for the health of the jar would it be a good idea to just open the lid, let the fly out, and replace with fresh air?

It would be a good idea to toss the jar, fly or no fly because:

Quote:

It is fully colonized besides the bacteria spots

Quote:

since it's fully colonized though you think it'd be ok to just open the jar for a minute and close it back up?

Same answer. No.

I have to be honest, these questions are pretty damn strange bro, especially for someone who has been around as long as you. Please don't make the mods start keeping an eye on you.
