Afternoon folks, decided I'd go for my first scout of this year today. I've picked many a fair few times before but it's been a while since I last did. After some google searching I think it's possible they may be P.strictipes rather than the desired liberty caps I was looking for (but i'm no expert). Any help is much appreciated.
Found in a woods nearby in the south of England The gills are a light creamy colour as pictured. The stems are 4 - 7 cms a brown to pale brown colour though since taking home have turned darker at some points possibly from bruising, they are thin but solid. The caps are a browny colour and look similiar to pictures of liberty caps I found except these ones get lighter around the edges of the cap the diameter of the largest I have is about 0.5cm - I think it's possible I didnt find any that had a chance to mature properly. They have a pointed tip though it isn't incredibly pronounced, more so on some than others.
Since bringing home the lighter edges around the caps are less noticeable though were quite noticeable when first picked.
Can take more pictures on request, can also go get more in a couple of days if better samples are required.
Thanks in advance
