All of a sudden there is now a fly in my jar...

I've seen bugs grow in the jars before, but not quite like this. I have a jar which I did a g2g transfer on and it colonized in about a week except for a couple of spots which appear to be a bacterial contamination so I just shelved it and hadn't opened the jar since. This is maybe 7-10 days after that. I've been checking it from time to time as it seems to slowly be encroaching on the bacteria, I suspect maybe the bacteria will, at least eventually, die of arbitration, whether it be lack of oxygen as it's trapped, or it will simply eat the food sources it has and then die from a lack of food. Maybe that will take a long time, but I don't need the jar so I figured it doesn't hurt to shelve it to see what happens. Anyway this morning I wokeup to see a small fly roaming around the surface of the mycilium, which keep in mind has been fully colonized for at least a week now.
I just thought this was interesting. I've had things grow, but it's quite rare, and certainly never this late into the mycilial growth. Any idea how this thing could have survived the PC and, well.. what do you think is going on? Was his larvae somehow in the grains and then he just fed on the mycilia maybe and crawled his way out? Just seems quite odd. I wonder what will happen if I leave him in there? The top is fully colonized like I said, for the health of the jar would it be a good idea to just open the lid, let the fly out, and replace with fresh air? It is fully colonized besides the bacteria spots, and I do know it can be a good thing to 'pour off' the built up CO2, since it's fully colonized though you think it'd be ok to just open the jar for a minute and close it back up? I wouldn't think it'd necessarily trigger pinning, but even if it does I wouldn't mind just fruiting it in the jar.

Probably, but it's still interesting. Maybe the mushroom just gave birth to a fly?

You're posting all sorts of crazy experiments and hypotheses around here including coloring mushrooms with colored substrates(they're not plants) and beans as spawn and you cant figure out regular spawn? No fly larvae survived a PC cycle something is majorly fucked. You almost made me thing today was april first.

Lmao, yah I'm trying some experimental jars, but this is not one of them. If you honestly believe it didn't survive the pressure cooking then where could it possibly have come from? It either had to survive the PCing, it flew through the glass, or there was some kind of emaculate conception going on inside of that jar. In all seriousness I'm open to all three possibilities, but it surviving PCing seems to be the most plausible explanation. Even if that were the case though it's still quite odd that it didn't show up earlier and could survive being surrounded by mycilia. Maybe the mycilia made a little pocket for it and incubated the larvae? Should I try to fruit flies?
edit: Now there are 3 flies in the jar...

What do you mean forgot something? Like maybe I opened the jar at some point and don't remember doing so? Not a troll post I promise. I've gotten bugs in my jars before, that's not what surprises me, it's jsut that they have never showed up after the mycilia colonizes everything.

Why would I do that? Do you not believe there were flies in the jar? Either way I opened it up to let the flies out, dunking it in water, and am going to try to fruit from the jar by putting a plastic bag overtop.

I think there was flys in there because you fucked up somewhere. It did not survive the PC cycle and it didn't go through the glass. Maybe your lids are the biggest pieces of shit ever. Maybe you forgot something but forgetting is a hard concept for you I guess.
Maybe this is just troll and ^this^ is just food.
Who knows.

When I opened the jar to fruit it the rubber was not sealed so it is possible I opened it previously and have since forgot, I never denied that, but I don't remember opening it obviously so how can I say one way or the other? I know as much as you do as far as that is concerned, it's no reason to call me a troll. That's like an old person asking you for helping finding his glasses and you respond, 'You lose those all the time, you must be trolling' instead of helping him look for them.

In that case use your own deductive logic. It would have to have obviously been that the jar was left open somewhere after sterilization since it's obvious that a fly cant go through the jar and survive the PC.
