Need help to find chicken of the woods and lobster!

So I've been hunting quite alot this summer and found so many species, but one that I haven't come across and that I'd really like to find is chicken of the woods (Laetiporus Sulphureus)
Few questions :
1. How many days does it take to grow? 2. Do they need alot of rain? Can I find some even if it hasn't rained for 4-5 days (but the soil is still quite wet) 3. Do they grow near other specific mushrooms?
Also for lobster mushroom, I only managed to find one small spot where I can find em, but there will only be 2-3 small mushrooms at a time, are there any tricks to find these?
Thanks!

1. They grow really dang fast on a petri plate and in the woods. The temp is cooling down so they will slow down. I would imagine they are harvestable one week from pinning. 2. They do need rain but not a lot. They probably pull moisture mostly from the wood they are growing from until the rains come. 3. I am not sure if there are fungi they grow with specifically. I don't think so.
The trick to finding lobster mushrooms is being where they are.

They are one of the easiest mushrooms to find due to their size and color. Just go out into the woods.

WRONG.
Its getting late for the BAD chickys you have been eating. (EUCALYPTUS) Its getting to the right time of year to start finding them more on the RIGHT trees.
Last Season, Mid December was the beginning of the Last Flush I observed up here. I was finding them on Oaks into January.

Left being the west, right?
I am west coast!
Lol, this was directed at General Sherman (west coast), because he chose me to be his teacher.
Its called harsh love. He gets it...
There is no jerkness about it... im being stern with him because he has been taking risks recently that I personally feel are idiotic and if he wants me to teach him then I want him to be smart about what he does...
I only started being "Mean" to him when he ate those chicken of the woods off the eucalyptus... I asked him PLEASE, just wait for the right wood... he rushed into the mushroom lust and ate them.. luckily, he was able to digest them... but I also don't feel he has grasped the concept of accumulation concerns.... I worry that he may use that kind of reasoning when it comes to more dangerous mushrooms...
Just looking out for my buddy.
My WRONG was followed by education/tips to what was correct. I did him a favor.
Sorry you interpreted things the way you did, I am actually a very nice person.

I want to make sure he uses better logic when I teach him actives, because it starts to get alot more risky....
He is extremely rambunctious
Hes got the bug~
I guess I am just trying to stress discipline and due diligence.
Patience.

Dude, sorry but Cali and the real PNW are worlds apart. I haven't seen any COTW in a month, like others said they were all before the big rains, and that shit was all super tasty. Eucalyptus don't even grow up where I hunt. Every region is different. Lobsters seem to be slowing down a bit, but they're still out if you are in the right areas.

Have you ever hunted in cali? It has most everything the PNW has, its really not worlds apart.. your season just starts sooner and lasts longer.. you get alot more rain.
California is a very diverse area.
Ok, yeah, we dont really have truffles like you do.
Blame eucalyptus on the stupid logic of the early Loggers... Cali is so full of non-natives, its disgusting.

I lived in Cali for 26 years. it has at least two distinctly different mushroom hunting seasons between NoCal and SoCal, and really it's more like three between North-coastal, the valley and SoCal and the deserts. Sure, Crescent city is going to be a lot like southern Oregon, but Portland has a distinct season from the Bay Area and the Puget Sound area is on its own schedule as well. All I'm saying is don't make generalizations about season that only apply to a limited area, in my neck of the woods the chickens are done and have been for a while, and I've yet to see a single eucalyptus. OP should state where he's hunting or the replies he receives will be meaningless.

I was not generalizing the season for all areas at all..
My comment was specifically directed at poster Sherman (an actual friend of mine) in regards to his comment that was based on our area... I had actually told him its getting kinda late for chickys, because it is... from around this time until January they become much less abundant, Around my neck of the woods.
Quote:
Last Season, Mid December was the beginning of the Last Flush I observed up here. I was finding them on Oaks into January.
I worked as a delivery driver through last season.. my route covered northern california, as far south as Monterey County, as far east as Stockton, as far north as Ukiah and Auburn.. & All the way west... I made these observations on route.. compiled those with all my other observations from the previous seasons.. that's the range I came up with based on those observations.
Here, more specifically between the bay area, the sierras, and the north coast (which is where I am at, I no longer live in the east bay as of 4 years ago) the season typically seems to start as early as June, and in some locations the season can last until January.. with some micro climates experiencing them at random times of the year... 'limited area' i consider a matter of personal opinion.
Technically mushrooms are not on a set schedule.

Yeah, that would definitely help for building the knowledge of his area...
However, I would never say that any info on observations is 'meaningless'.. Its all data for the info pool...
& it could be very useful if you are trying to learn about a specific type of mushroom in depth, or if you have interests of hunting in different regions.
