As I'm sure many of you can remember: this movie was about this group of people that go out searching for a long lost buried treasure...which was buried by Curly's father (Curly was the old cowboy that dies in the first City Slickers movie) You may also remember that Curly was given a map that showed how to get to the area where the treasure was initially buried...while his brother was given only a small corner of the map that showed the location that the treasure at been moved to at some later point in time. The idea was that the two brothers had to put aside their differences and work together as a team in order to get what they both wanted.
Now let's assume for a second that there is some sort of higher god-like entity out there that is trying to do the same for us. Perhaps the reason we have so many different religions is because each one holds a piece of the treasure map, and we're supposed to put aside our differences and work together in order to find what we are all looking for. Maybe 'god' wants us to come together as one...hhmmm?
Or maybe I'm just rambling...forget I said anything

Maybe "god" wants you to realize that your faith should only be directed inward. Maybe "god" set it up like this - a mind forced to see the world through a system of glands, that has a tendency to become dependent on external data and might also assume that the answers to the big questions come from the same direction.
Maybe, right?

oh ok, in that case I've already found the treasure. never needed a map. but people need validation for their beliefs hence the externalizing of spirituality- religion and all that.

Validation should come from practice... not some magic textbook.
