Cultivating Weilli
    #1892820 - 09/08/03 03:01 AM (13 years, 2 months ago)

How hard is it to grow the Weilli mushroom? I haven't been able to find any information or teks on it anywhere.

From what I understand it's not hard but it's not easy either.

This thread really doesn't belong here and you'll probably get better answers in another forum, so that's why I'm gonna move it

They are a bit tricky to fruit. I?d definitely use a mixture of different ingredients instead of straw alone. Read the aforementioned reports for some clues.

Ya, I know that... But what would a (hard)wood log be good too fruit on? Even better with a roll of grass over the wood log. What temp do they fruit at?

Not really no. If you speak to anyone who has found Weilli it is rarely found directly attached to wood debris. I found this out becuase i was investigating Aucklandii and Zapotecorum which are quite similar and these are also not reported directly off lignious substances.
The best bet would be a mix of manure (worked for workman and someone else that greatone was linking too) and straw.

Some things about this make me think. Did anyone try using a non-treated ,ala Agaricus, casing mix? Agaricus yields go up substantially with a biologically active casing layer, SRAs simply will not pin inside with a biologically active casing layer. Ehhh.... gets you thinking. I don't have the time, space nor have I nor will I ever experiment with a psilocybian mushroom.
