thanks. would it be better to search in woods near a river though?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Psilocybe_caerulipes#Habitat

Read this, for starters, and then look for them.  It says they can be found from late June to December, growing on wood debris and fallen logs. (birch, beech, and maple)  Have fun.

Wow.

I feel like people on this site have gained a lot of patience. If this thread had been posted last year or two years ago there would have been many more grumpy comments.

Good on everyone for being so helpful, and Good on the OP for learning how to post pics. Maybe try reading up on the guidelines before posting random questions and pics without id forms all over a thread again.

My heart is warmed!

I advise any noob looking to identify mushrooms to fill out the ID form and provide clear photographs. Knowledge is a privilege and deserves respect. Let's give due props to the experts!

Pluteus. That's a wet print. It will pinken up as it dries.

I will confess something that should be quite obvious, CC.  I love mushrooms, i.e. fungi.  I really do.  I am talking about a strong feeling, i.e. emotion, for them.  I think they are beautiful.  I even dream of them.
