Cyanescens have a brown cap, with very wavy edges.  white fibrous stem.  the stem and gills will bruise blue when knocked.  the cap should also be sticky to touch.

They are very distinctive.  unfortunately what you have found are not them.

Have a look through the Melbourne, and Tasmania threads and you will see examples of P. subaeruginosa, some which have a wavy cap phenotype, what you are looking for is very much like those.  P. cyanescens have that distinctive wavyness about their cap.

Yeah like a caramel brown, fading to an off cream white when the sun drys them out.

No.. you are so far off, I don't know what to tell you.

First, you are looking in the wrong habitat...

Chances of finding one in a forested area, in a natural setting is very very unlikely.

You need to go urban.

Study the taxonomy on it.
Also study Galerina Autumnalis.

Cyans almost always exhibit obvious bruising.. rarely is it faint.

Not my own picks, but I had Azure Chocolates from Andrew back when I still lived down there... and I nibbled a fresh one.

He gave me a bag of colonized azure chips.. i used them to colonize more chips...
was having super success until I introduced the chips to the garden when I thought it would be a good place to let a patch establish... then a fungi army came and destroyed it all... there is possibly a few spots of surviving mycelium, but I have yet to see it fruit... this will be its third season... hoping I see something, otherwise I give up on that patch.

No, they weren't unknown to begin with... I killed the army by increasing FAE to the area.. but eventually some other weird mushroom moved in too... its really hard to ID, never took pics of the latest invader... maybe ill get pics this year.

This photo in particular shows the army surrounding the azure colony...
The white represents what little azure was left, it was struggling to hang on.

Like I mentioned, it appears it may have retreated to a few areas of that patch... the mycelium looks right, but I am still waiting on fruit to find out.

For all that matters Andrew may have given me a bag of bunk shit. lol

But I doubt it, he is up there with the experts.
