Update on my cow poo and wbs tray. The sub isn't pretty, but hey, it works.

Good work! Is there a liner in the tray? I've heard the myc will eat through the aluminum.

Myc will definitely eat through the aluminum. However, it should be good through your first flush, there should only be a few holes eaten through.
But when you go for your second flush you might want to think of doing something about it cause your pan is going to be eaten up and flimsy-ish. Not to mention rusty..
Anyyyyywho.. Those are some healthy looking mushies if I do say so myself... and I do.

Nope, no liner unfortunately. Hence the side-pinning going on in there. The sub sort of shrank and the corner developed a little gap. =p Didn't know it could eat through the aluminum though... That's good to know. Enigma: yup, straight up compost and WBS, that's it. I pasteurized it if thats what you mean. The compost is called Black Kow and the bag says 100% composted cow manure. It works well but does infinitely better with some straw/hay mixed in... It tends to clump up into dense chunks and is hard to work with on its own.
Another update: the veils broke on the four largest shrooms during the past few hours... Then the veils started turning purple, so I figured I had better pick them before they splooge all over my mushroom box lol!

I can't tell you how good it feels to have fruits after so many weeks and hours of studying, building and whatnot... I just want to share the "fruits" of my labor with the world lol

Harvest time!

Anyone care to offer some criticism or advice? I already know the substrate is less than optimal, but what can else I do to get meatier shrooms? A lot of these were tall and skinny with smaller caps than I expected. A lot smaller than most wild shrooms I've found, on average. Of course I didn't expect to grow like a pro on my first time, but I want to improve my game from here.
Thanks for making this possible, shroomery! You guys are the shiznit.

Oh yeah and you guys were right about the mycelium eating the aluminum. After harvesting, I started pouring water into the tray to dunk it for a few hours and water started spraying out everywhere like the tray was swiss cheese and I was like WTF!!! LOL!!
I just hope the mushrooms didn't absorb some of that aluminum... we don't want metal poisoning, now do we?!
