A million times asked already I know... But is this jar ready for spawning? Mycelium has been growing since late August, pretty sure its ready but hey you be the judge.

Give it a couple days to see if those few loose grains will cover... otherwise spawn it.

Cool, when it's time to spawn it should a shake the grains apart or should I break the grains apart via some other method as not to further break the mycelium up? This being my first grain spawn I would like to get this right... Our pf tek worked well our first time out were trying to reproduce that on bigger scale with this GS so any help would be great.
Thanks pals.

Alright, when its time to spawn to bulk. Youre going to want to break them up completely. When youre done, you should barely be able to see any mycelium at all. If you want an outstanding tek for first time bulk grow, google "how to grow shrooms." Its a great pictorial by str0be on shroomology. Its what i did step by step for my first grow. Ive never even done the pf tek. Id post the link but im not sure if its against the forum rules :/
Seriously though, its good for first time bulk.

I just spawned my WBS and what I did was get a fork and break it all up completely (as much as i could at least, i think i left a couple small clumps) and then mixed it all up with the substrate. It's been less than 24 hours and there's noticeable mycelium colonization in mine already.

If it looks like that and you inoculated over 5 weeks ago, you have bacteria in there. The growth on those colonized grains looks unhealthy as well. That's why it won't colonize properly

Well compared to the obvious contams I know I've seen through out the process of inoc. the jars I had that one is certainly the winner & though it may not be the best looking. I do believe it will spawn the sub. I will be using... But I see where your coming from though.

I've come this far & it doesn't look like pure crap I might as well spawn it & see what happens... (Fingers still crossed)

Dont use a fork or anything to break up the mycelium. Ur only pushing contaminates into the jar and stressing the mycelium more.
As for the jars being contaminated, id listen to Frank dude. The guy really knows his shit and ive learned a good portion of what I know thanks to him. It really sucks to throw out hard work sometimes, especially when youre new to it. But spawning it is only going to waste your time. If you want to be positive for bacterial contamination, take a good smell when you open it.

NO! you've come this far....open yr jars when yr ready for spawning and SMELL them... if they small anything of anything other than shroom then toss them! Otherwise you risk fucking yr whole grow with a contam in a single jar

It was fully colonized WBS. They're pretty contam resistant at the moment. And yea i know it causes stress for my poor mycelium.. But how would you suggest to break them up then?

Why break up individual seeds / grains? Smash in within the jar with whatever so you don't need to introduce random objects (a fork?!!?!) to seperate seeds/grains afterward

The mycelium is stronger but it is not contam resistant. Use your palm, a bike tire, a phonebokk ive heard of.. whatever. Its easy to use a fork, believe me i know. :/

Yeah and its also easier if u dont fill the jar so full. Like 3/4 or even 1/2 makes it much easier

Is it from your homemade syringe? The same as from this post?
If it has taken since late august to get that far, I'm afraid the odds are against you. That is a really long time. Sorry dude. I wouldn't even bother smelling them, just re sterilize and dump.
I know it's hard to accept and I expect to get flamed, but I just don't see how that could possibly be healthy mycelium. Even if it is, that stuff will take forever to colonize your substrate and you will likely get a contamination before it gets to fruiting.
Cut your losses and save your effort and resources. Start over.
