I never thought he was a phenomenal coach, just had a phenomenal team.
for the most winningest SB team ever, I have to think that winning a ring doesn't carry as much weight as it would in New Orleans, where Sean Payton can have back to back defeated seasons and still keep his job.
It's amazing how much emphasis is given to coaching in general discussion when scouting and talent evaluation is probably just as or more important to the longevity of a franchise. I guess one could argue you still need to coach up that talent, but we're seeing it with some of these older teams right now that haven't reloaded.

Tomlin is the third coach for the steelers since '69.
one thing the organization doesn't do, is fuck around with the HC job. That's part of the reason why the steelers have been good for so long, stability.
Good teams go into regression, but they do bounce back. Pittsburgh did it in the 80's, and Chuck Noll's job was never in jeopardy
The steelers have stunk this season because of player performance/injuries. Their oline sucks, without protecting Ben, he sucks. They have a rookie RB that's athletic but green, behind him there is no quality depth. One great wideout in Downtown A. Brown, after that a few average guys(losing Wallace is showing it's impact).
Good/vet quality depth is what the team has always had, and the lack thereof reared it's ugly head last season.

thats a cool stat. I have a lot of respect for teams who stick with their guys through the tough times.

I know this isn't college but there is nothing i hate more than when a team cuts a qb midway through the season for mediocrity.
Come on stick with the pony that got you there
