Cool! TY ZippyHippyinWA! I will try and remember that. I also heard if it leaves a green spore print throw it out. I guess I need to lay puff mushrooms upside down to achieve this?
Naw cut it in half. Always to check for sporelatation and make sure not a hidden amanita.
Good advice i cross sectioned an amanita once just to have an idea what it looks like. I appreciate the info friend!

Sweet! Maybe ill find some that aren't all dried up lol..BTW sketch, I found (I think) my first cortinarius iodes the other day! Sry, I know its off topic but I thought it was a really cool find...but I'm not 100% sure yet. My kid screwed up my laptop so I can't get the pics on here yet... but neways, really cool and maybe you'll eat some more after the second guessing is over ... I've done it with almost every new mushroom I found, but I finally take a little bite and realize it really is good lol

I am eating some more now. Out of the 4-5 pieces I ate my final flavor description is very pleasant (even cold) the taste. Reminds me of portobello mushrooms after taste. I know someone will think that sounds weird but IMO once I got past the flavor of the olive oil I tasted a tad bit strong. Not peppery but a unique almost exactly the odd flavor I detected from eating a giant puffball. Its after taste seems best. Its like you would think styrofoam tastes. What you would think styrofoam tastes like with a marshmallowy texture and a portobello after taste
that makes me feel good the pics made you hungry it was a really good meal and that shows Im not a bad cook. Im hard on myself but when I actually have patience things can really turn out nice! I almost posted pictures of the steak when I started cutting pieces off and they were perfectly cooked how I like em and then the gnawed remains of the T lol!

Nice man The ones around here taste different than the giant puffballs. They have a very rich taste like fine aged cheddar in a way. I love the taste and the smell and would consider them uite good. Butter seems to compliment them but it compliments most things ehh?
