Thank you for the compliment.
Those pictures were taken before harvest. I waited until at least half of the caps broke away from the stem and picked all of them off the cake at the same time then dunked them again for the second flush. The second flush on these was nowhere near as big as the fist so I tossed them after 2.

Sweet! just put my first batch in the fruiting chamber, can't wait for results! Did you put a small pile of verm on the top?

I used one of those ultra sonic humidifiers that look like an elephant. I cut a hole in the chamber and arranged it so the trunk blew the mist right into it. I set the humidifier on the lowest setting but there was still way too much mist in the chamber so I poked holes in it. I was getting constant free air exchange bc of the holes and for a light I used a 5500k bulb screwed into the socket in the closet which was about 3 feet from the chamber. The setup was pretty ghetto but it worked decently.

Ya I dunked overnight and rolled in verm. Then after I put them in the chamber I put as much verm on top as would stay on then soaked it with an eye dropper. Mycelium grew over the verm on the sides of the cake so you cant see that I did that. Also the bottom is the lid of the jar filled with verm which I soaked with an eye dropper as well.

That sucks you got contaminated. I tried 2 grows in the past and this is the first one I actually got a harvest.
One thing that worried me about my method was all that humidity escaping from the chamber made the closet pretty humid and with cloths and stuff in there I was worried I was inviting mold. I think I actually got lucky that it worked.

great first grow! I'm still in the colonization process for my first attempt, I've got less than a week to plan and build my fruiting chamber.
Did you just place the vermiculite rolled cakes in the chamber without perlite? Do you have any other suggestions for fruiting?

Thanks for all the compliments.
I didn't use pearlite because I used the humidifier. My past 2 failures I used pearlite and I couldn't initiate fruiting. I know that pearlite works because countless experienced growers swear by it but it never worked for me.
I can't give you any suggestions. I am new to mycology and don't feel confident enough in my knowledge to give advice. I don't want to steer you wrong. The only advice I can give is don't give up and read as much as you can about the subject.
