Spiritual Preparation for an Ayahuasca trip.

So I should be getting the ingredients for some brew. As someone that has a decent amount of experience with tryptamines but virtually none with straight DMT, I felt it may be a good idea to ask what it takes to get the most of the experience. With my past few trips I've been using a harmala extract to boost my trips and calm myself a little beforehand. So I know about the dietary restrictions. What do you do before you take ayahuasca to prepare yourself for the journey?

Like anything in life, it all comes down to intent. What do you want to get out of the experience?
I've found it doesn't hurt to fast a few hours before any psychedelic.

i'd say prepare to possibly feel quite nauseous, so have a comfy place to lie down to ride out the nausea if that comes up. also, meditation before something like this would be good i think, to center yourself and mentally prepare. making positive aspirations might also be helpful. but with these kinds of trips, preparing for them ahead of time usually turns out to be in vain - the trip will take you wherever it takes you and knowing beforehand what will transpire doesn't seem to happen much
i've only done ayahuasca once but it was a beautiful experience, very much enjoyed it i wish you all the best with your experience with it

From what I've read about Aya, this might be the best advice.

It is good advice. Clean out the bowels if at all possible.

traditionally stomach enzymes are weakest in the morning, and an ayahuasca trip started around sunrise is the way to maximize the whole deal. plus you'll love light and warmth the caapi brew is thick for max MAOI effect. When you add the psychotria or mimosa you'll see the dmt on the surfaced of the liquid. The dmt needs to hit the system at once for the groovy effect, but your body doesn't need that caapi leftover. Try not to puke for an hour then let fly. It mAY BE THE MOST MEMORABLE PUKE YOU EVER HAVE

I used to take lots of ground up rue before I loaded my head full of LSD... Talk about mind blowing. I remember the purge of the Rue was fucking gnar gnar, but right after I puked I felt fantabulous! Lots of fucking colors! Will the purge be more harsh than the rue/LSD combo?

Oh yeah, that caapi bark is some bitter astringent boieeeeeee - nnoo matter how dilute it still seems full strength - you're like - my body doesn't have enough room for all that - truly mystical experience - important - buy an assortment of fruit juices for after the puking - don't dehydrate. I personally like guava nectar and grape juice.
