My question pertains to the proper cleaning solutions I should use to sterilize my 5-gallon buckets and mono-tubs prior to using them.

Wash them like dishes soap and water. The air is way way way more dirty than the plastic if it's wiped clean. You could use alcohol or dilute bleach if you want but you're just going to rinse it with dirty tap water and leave it in dirty air any way.

I mean prior to using the buckets for pasteurizing or spawning to monotubs what type of cleaning agents and procedures do you use?

Just repeating the above because it's correct. Soap and water. RR

I use prepackaged bleach solution wipes.
As long as they do not have dirt and grime then a quick wipe with these and you are good in my experience.
Quick and easy.
