PC Cambodia doesn't grow

Hey community,
i have a problem with my last grow. I cultivated rye with a PC Cambodia print, which worked out fine. After that i built a case with a layer of perlite, mycelium and vermiculite on the top.
In the past, this method worked really good, but now it is the second time with two total different prints, but the same problem.
After i put the case in the fridge for 4 hours, soaked with water, i put it in a grow box (22-24°, >90° humidity). Now after a few days there are a lot of little mushrooms, but they don't really grow as they should do. Besides the mushroom-heads are much darker, as they should be i think.
Watch:

Do you know, what is going wrong?
Thank you!

How much light and fresh air are they getting? Do you have air holes for them in the box?

hmm.. I had a similar problem a few months ago. The last monotub I did had a bunch of slow growing mutants, and a sea of aborts
The only explanation I could think of was the tub that didn't have aerated straw like the another one did and it performed much better, same syringe, and I didn't even take photos and post them because they were mutated and aborted.
I don't mean to hijack your thread just sharing what I've experienced that sounded similar to yours. Are your boomers slow growing too?

They really need air holes or at least leave the lid cracked open and you should see some improvement. That's why there's mycelium growing up the stems and why they're getting that sort of thin-long shape. If you can get them in a spot that receives more light it might help the caps develop a little more.

yes, way to slow and a lot of mutants i think. so you think they need more air?
what kind of straw?
could it be a contamination?
edit: thank you! how much airholes in one box?

I have never heard of perlite as a casing layer. Does this work?

yes it works just fine. i used to cook the perlite for some minutes and then let cool down. my case contains 2 cm perlite, 4 cm mycelium a layer of vermiculite on the top.
the perlite regulates the climate in the case.
what do you use?

The perlite layer on the bottom is redundant. I've seen them from people using growkits but that's about it, it's outdated.
It's mainly used to keep the humidity up in the fruiting chamber and not placed in the actual substrate tray.

so you don't use any layer at the bottom?

Nope. Just spawn mixed evenly with the bulk substrate.
