I have a small attic space which would be the only place i could cultivate at. its about 60 sq ft. with a 1 1/2 foot height, sometimes has spider webs in it.
would i be able to grow in their?
Would i need a air filter to prevent air contam using jars??
Also very curious if its possible to do without light as far as colonization goes since thiers no space for lights.

Most attics have extreme fluctuations in temperature. How is yours?

The air in an attic can be pretty stagnant not to mention the temperature swings. If you had a way to circulate fresh air and maintain an acceptable temperature range than I am sure it would work fine

The temp is ussually at a constant of 67=69 degrees, how would i go about keeping the air clean with them since im doing jars. an air filter? and do i need light?

You could get by without light during the colonization phase but it's pretty important for actual mushroom growth.

No need to keep the air clean for fruiting. Fruiting is not a sterile process

Lights closest to 6500k. The daylight cfl bulbs work great. I use one in one of these. They are available at walmart and most hardware stores

The search function man does wonders. Also a little ambient light doesnt hurt mycelium growth but it a tad beneficial. You don't exactly need it this stage but I've always given them ambient light when i think about it. It's like taking them out for vacation When fruiting conditions are introduced, you'll want a bulb at 6500k ( It's on the cooler side of bulbs, so it doesnt get so hot.) The scale is on the back of the box, easily found in walmart, or any hardware stores. Fruiting also needs a 12/12 light schedule, have fun!

Yeah, you shouldn't need to clean the air as they've said, though you will need to be careful in your sterile procedures and pasteurization process (if doing bulk anyway). If the attic is really dusty for instance then that means lots of mold and bacterial spores might be present as well so when spawning to a bulk substrate in open air you'll be exposing it to more contaminant spores than you would if you were perhaps doing the spawn in a more clean room in your house. So long as your jars look fine you might want to consider doing a higher spawn ratio because of this to be on the safe side, but truly you can't know what will happen until you do it to find out.
