Hey peeps, got a mycelium question. From my last flush I managed to get a couple prints & made some syringes from them... Later these are what I got from a handful of them. Not sure if there is bacteria or contam or what?

Contaminated for sure. Pc them. Dump the contents. Wash the jars.
Btw use the contamination form next time please.
If i were you, id use the rest of your syringes on agar to isolate them away from contamination first.

Oh, sorry bud. I'll be sure to fully check the forms better next time but I really needed to know from a personal aspect. But thanks though.

hmm What are the jars? Cubensis? Or Panaeolus cyanescens? They don't look too good in my opinion

Asking if your grow is contaminated is perfectly legit to ask here. It's asked almost every 5 minutes.
If you are interested in what kind of contam it is, then you should ask in the contamination forum.
Suffice it to say, it's contaminated and throw it out.
Sterilize the jar before you open it or open it under a bucket of water. Dump it and wash out the jar and reuse.
Homemade print to syringe to PF jar can be difficult. By nature, your print, and thus syringe, is not going to be contam free.
This is the only instance where I would ever in a million years even remotely suggest LC.
If you get in to agar, then you can make a clean culture from just a few spores from your prints. Then you can take your clean culture and make Agar LC. You can draw up LC in a syringe to inoculate your PF jars.
This is the only situation I would suggest making LC. If you move away from PF Tek and get in to grains, then you would skip the LC and syringe part and go straight from agar to grain.
But, my suggestion requires a pressure cooker for proper sterilization.
Sorry for the rant. Personally, I hate PF tek.

It's kind of a gray area. The 2 subjects overlap to some degree. My statement above is just my opinion based on observation. I certainly can't say you were wrong

shroomdust said: Those jars are a complete fail. I'm sorry. Start over. As mentioned, your prints apparently need to be cleaned up via agar if you want to produce mushrooms from them. You should be more sterile next time you capture your spores. I personally think that yes, there is no way to avoid getting mold spores on your caps, but, they are moist and spores stick to them because they fall on them. I believe most mold spores will not reach the gills underneath so everything else in your process is sterile you can get a relatively contam free print. That's what I would focus on.
Yeah no spore print is going to be completely sterile. The unfortunate consequence of using syringes is that if you get a cluster of mold spores in it you'll usually wind up contaminating everything you inoculate with it. And hopefully you didn't make all your spore solution at once mixed together for all your syringes or it could turn out all the syringes you made are contaminated.

My sentiments exactly! PF tek is great for some circumstances, but once you get a pressure cooker, your viewpoint will change.
