Regarding second flush
    #18920945 - 10/02/13 12:49 PM (10 years, 3 months ago)

Hi!

About a month ago I bought one of those growing kits at a growshop in my town. I harvested the first flush a week ago, and it turned rather low (I ate about 50 grams of fresh shrooms) and I just saw mild patterns on the walls/ceiling, felt my mind out of my body, couldn't stop laughing and in the end got all paranoid and had sort of a bad trip. According to what I've read here, this aren't the proper effects for such a big dose. Because of the situation I'm at (living in shared flat with anti-drug roommates) I was growing them inside the plastic bag that came with the kit inside my wardrobe, following most guides found here about misting, light hours, fanning, etc. Most of the first flush turned to aborts because of too much humidity, and the guy at the growshop adviced me to put the plastic box where they grow inside a bigger box so even though it was humid there was more room for the shrooms to grow without touching the moist walls of the bag.
The second flush is now almost grown, with the biggest caps swelling before ripping open. This time I placed the plastic box inside a cardboard box (from a guitar amp) inside my wardrobe, which is a quite cool place compared with the rest of the house (I live in southeastern Spain, so it's around 25-30 ºC right now). Up until a few days, most of the little pins looked healthy growing, but have all turned to aborts, and the bigger shrooms have gotten all bruised, look rather dry and have this feather-looking skin pattern on the stems. Here are some pictures:

Is this normal? What did I do wrong? How should I do it for the next flush?

Please, keep in mind I have very limited space to grow the shrooms and my budget is almost non-existing, so I can't afford to buy a terrarium or anything of the kind.

Chances are for what you could find around the house + the cost of that grow kit you could have done things yourself. You shouldn't be growing if you're too poor to afford the simple things needed to get started with say the PF tek. Spend that time finding a way not be so poor and then grow the mushrooms when you can care for them.

People make money off of a grow kit to stay in business. You could make a grow kit for less than you paid for the grow kit. Cut the middle man.

In Spain? Have you been to America lately? We just shut down our government. We cant even keep our national parks open, but we can go protect freedom in Syria with weapons 0.o

haha I know. That's why I said "We cant even keep our national parks open, but we can go protect freedom in Syria with weapons 0.o" It's just been the running joke for the last couple days.

There is no such thing as too much humidity, so that's definitely not the reason they aborted. They're supposed to be at 95-100% humidity during fruiting. I know long thin stems are usually a sign of lack of fresh air. So I'm guessing you should start with misting/fanning more often...

That would make sense, if we fanned for FAE, but we do not.

We fan after misting to make room for evaporation of the water we just applied to happen.

This is a main pinning trigger.

The answer is a better fruiting chamber with better constant FAE.
