Tiny fruits with Millet (WBS)
    #1892077 - 09/07/03 10:39 PM (14 years, 1 month ago)

Sup y'all? AFOAF recently cased 3 quarts of staright colonized millet (not spawned or anything) with 60/40 coir + verm and oyster shell. The casing is producing literally hundreds of pins, but the shrooms are all very small in size. He's been working with this strain (cambodian) for awhile and I know the tiny shrooms is not a genetic trait. This is his first time using staright millet. He keeps the casing well hydrated and well aired. The temp is perfect too, so what gives? Pics will be posted soon-maybe tomorrow. Thanx

I mix the colonized millet 2:1 with moist sterile vermiculite and then case. That seemed to boost my yields as it fixed the problems with water retention and millet.

Thanx for the reply and the handy tip. So you suppose the problem is not enough water?

Most likely. I had the same problem until I added the moist vermiculite.

Try adding a thicker casing layer, but I wouldn't recommend over 1.5". This should help any casings you have now if they need water.

Thanx bros. Z@Z, he will try this on 3 Quarts KS lamai beach on popcorn and straight case 3 Q lamai beach without the verm mixed in and compare the harvest.

ATWAR-always helpful:cool: I was thinking the casing layer may be too thin. I was thinking, and I remember that this time I didn?t add a bottom casing layer which he normally does so the myc can pull water from it if neccesary.

Anyway, the harvest wasn?t too bad for my friend, check out these pics y?all:

You can see that the fruits, although plentiful, are quite small.

Close up. "The Elfin Cambodian Forest"-teehee.

More tomorrow
