I read about it on some sort of chrono cross wikia page dedicated to only chrono trigger and cross
I get it, but the dragon thing was confusing as fuck and ultimately why I stopped playing
A lot of those ps1 games border on that line, only one I got through was FF7 and the plot was just some mumbo jumbo mana crap being regurgitated

the dragons were remnants of reptilians tricking the party into opening chronopolis, so dinopilios could be summoned from the past.... i think

Dragons were created by belthasar because they were needed to create/use the elements, the magic they use. That's why the majik isn't in the previous game

there was inate magic from zeal in chrono trigger, but the elements came from dragons? i thought the dragons were evolved reptites or something, they were created from belthasar?

Of course the were, the archapeligo was created from him in the future, the coral reef area was from the distant future and got zapped into the past because they knew that there was another lavos. the baby that lucca gets is kiddo and kiddo has the key to unlocking everything at the place that was zapped back in time and ended up in the coral reef.
the ENTIRE archapeligo is a new area in the world but it was cut off to prevent a disturbance in the timeline, the dragons each represent an element
two dimensions are created when serge lives and serge dies, the pendant is probably used to travel between the two.

tbh I just read the whole wiki watched varios videos I got stuck on disc two and stopped playing, the part where you talk to the dragons.
