Dehydrator is probably your best bet, but otherwise spread out on foil in a warm room with lots of airflow. Other people thread them on string.
The secret is airflow, as much as possible, and dry air.

Dehydrator is best by far
Next best is out on paper with a warm setting heater blowing over them
Next best is out on paper with just a fan blowing over them
Next best is just out on paper in a warm room with good air circulation
Worst is in a bag or plastic or refrigerator or stashed under your bed so mummy won't see the
Just sayn
Some people use desiccant jars but for bunches of mushrooms I find it hard work...
There are plans on line for home made dehydrators if you don't want to spend the money for a decent commercial one.
Should mention ovens... They work if you don't over cook them... Preheat and keep temp low

Yes, but you are an over achiever!!! :-)
Should note that I don't get spore prints when using a dehydrator So if you want spores... Might look to paper and fans

I usually air dry them first a couple of days. Then i make my own dehydrator with some damp-rid and an airtight container to get them cracker dry for storage.

for gourmets with a dehydrator
for actives put them in a shallow cardboard box and leave a fan running at them for a few days.
then you can freeze the dried actives if you seal them properly and theyll be good for over a year without losing much potency

For Gourmet, I would go with a standard tiered food dehydrator.
For Actives, its gonna require a little more patience, and space, if you want them to stay as active as possible... -Flat surface large enough to lay out the mushrooms individually (Large table?) -I personally like to lay them on a large sheet of corrugated cardboard... -Any small desk fan will work... not super high velocity otherwise it will blow them away as they dry... -Set up in a room that stays relatively cool and stable, but most importantly a dry room for the most efficiency time wise.... -Set up your fan at one end, or even 2 fans, one at each end of the table... -Allow them to fan dry until crisp, maybe 3-5 days depending on your conditions.. -Then you can put them in a bag or jar with desiccate to seal the deal and ensure dryness.

I am considering letting the cat out of the bag this year, as I am not planning to stay in the regular "game" much longer... so fear of competition verses the joy of sharing knowledge is about to be heavily weighed....
Thinking about doing a detailed thread on my preservation technique...
Not that my technique is unique, but its surprisingly underused and rarely talked about.
In theory, It can preserve them indefinitely. Those mushrooms from over the summer are from 2 seasons ago and they are still strong as fuck, no notable decrease in potency whatsoever.. those were picked in 2011.
it almost seems to stabilize them too... as you experienced with the ones I gave you last year... even with the method in which you stored them, after a year they should have been much weaker than what you reported... I am very happy with my results so far.
Feeling I should share the joy soon~

yeah. i had those things for about a year and they were still really strong. and that was a year not in the freezer but in a baggy so i see your point on the preservation angle.
i denno why you wouldnt share them? the magic brand stabilizing agent is my fave part too. it adds a nice poetic angle.

Don't tease us, man!
