Great question. Great place to ask, too.
I need more info on how the money was obtained before I could give a specific answer.
Do go on...

Just drop it in your bank and use a debit card, or pay cash. As per the Money Laundering Control act, only deposits in excess of $10,000 are investigated. After $10,000, banks are required to file what is called a Currency Transaction Report. That in itself isn't too big of a deal, but suspicious shit will get a further report called a Suspicious Activity Report, and from that point your bank will be watching the shit of your accounts.
In other words, $7,500 should be safe to deposit, 'specially if you do it in smaller chunks over time. As for reporting your purchases, I don't know of purchases like that being reported. However, any purchases you make with the store, regardless of payment method, would likely be kept in record by the store itself.

Yeah, a purchase that small won't be noticed or reported.
Done it many times via check, credit card, etc. No problems.

Why make any paper trail if it's easily avoidable though?
IMO dropping that much cash in one shot would seem a little odd and could attract unwanted attention of one sort or another (e.g. the guy behind you in line wonders if there's more cash where that came from and follows you back to your house.) If it was broken up into smaller purchases I don't think anyone would bat an eye.

I think if you dress up like a contractor (working clothes) nobody will think anything is off.
Those guys often spend huge amounts of cash on projects.
If you pay cash what is there to report? There is no need to sign anything is there? And its not like with a car that stuff is registered through plates and whatnot.

this is true
also, if you dont need all the appliances at once, just buy them as you need them, so your not dropping the hole 7500 at once
my mom paid a 250$ vet bill in cash, and they seemed surprised though, so it may depend on the type of store, home depot though i wouldnt be surprised if they didnt notice or care, home renovating projects are expensive

OP, do you even realize how many people spend big $$ each day at Home Depot?
I know a guy who is a manager at the Depot, I could ask him some questions for you if you're worried.

No signing or id would be necessary for a cash purchase. $7500 isn't an unusually high amount of money to spend at a store like that.

He said if you buy an appliance they will have you sign some paper work called A Customer Agreement paper which has your name, address and signature. He said you cant just go in and buy appliances without talking to you and if they don't have them in stock they'd have to deliver them to your house so they'd need your address so he said if you don't want them knowing your info either get someone who can lend their name for you or go somewhere else.

Interesting, so they basically will just refuse to sell it if you don't give your info?

Idk I didn't ask haha I should've.
He did say you could try going up to the cashier with all the sku #s you wanted to buy, but in the end they will still want you to sign those customer agreement forms.
Hope that helps!

No. As a landlord I frequently make large Home Depot purchases.
Not only do they happily accept cash with no name given, but they quite happily help you load them.
Now if you want the extended warranty... that's another matter.

You could deposit, or just spend money and claim that you had a family member die and they had you as the next of kin in their will, you had a open house sale. So you have a lot of cash because you sold all their belongings because you had no use for them.

If it is over $9,999 I am fairly sure that it needs to be reported to tax agencies. Under that I do not think there would be an issue
