First off I want to apologize for any bad spelling, working on a shitty tablet with a small screen and horrible key pad that my fingers seem to hate.
So im a first timer. Been doing a dec3nt amount of research, currently own stamets books, mushroom cultivator, and growing gourmet and medical. I also have Rodger rabbits dvd, lets grow. Though both of these are great I find my self having all sorts of lil random questions. I have one friend who is familiar with this hobhy who lives about 8 hours away and isnt to keen on long distance convos... had a few convos with him before I got my hands dirty for the first time, but I since then my minds been itching for help. I guess I should start off with where most of my questions derive from. Last time I saw my friend he made a copy of a guide from mycotopia forum for me, entitled bb tek a complete walk through, spores to lc to jars to bulk substrate. So I would b asking these questions on their site but I just triedlogging on and I got a message saying the site is either ttemporarily or permanently down, which brings me here... So last week I tried to inoculate liquid culture with a spore syringe. This is where my firsg questions start, This guide suggests to make jars with holes drilled in the top that are then filled with silcone ll
so first off for LC jars, are the silicone filled holes the only way to go? Can I use filter discs instead?
If silicone is the only way to go... How long do I need to let my needle cool prior to inserting into the silicone, if the needle is too hot when hitting the silicone does this creat issues with burning the silcone and Is it a bad idea to whipe my needle with an alcohol soaked paper towel to cool the needle before puncturing the silicone? Could the alcohol ruin the culturemfrom growing? Also I know im suppose to heat the needle till its red hot, is their a time frame I should work with? Or do I just wait to see it turn red? And how far down the needle do you bring the flame to the syringe, I foundmkyself foncerned about melting the syringe needle attachment... So I have a handful of other questions but im running out of time for writing this post so im gonna throw one more out there before I run out. While attempting 5o follow the guide I was recommended, their is a"chapter" on preparing an earth juice tea which includes Earthjuice grow Earthjuice microblast Eartjuice catalyst And General hydros "chi" floral spray
Found all these but the chi, then i learned the chi is no longer made... Does any one know a good substitute for chi? Thank you all soooo much, and sorry about the spelling, didnt get a chance proof read before I sent, just ran out of time. Love n light

Ok so first off the silicone is for an injection port. You will still need a filter also.
Second, don't wipe the needle with alcohol to cool it down, that would be counterproductive. Just squirt out a drop from the syringe and that will cool the needle. Just be careful when doing this by using two hands to expunge the drop so as not to accidentally squirt a bunch out when the plunger gives way.
Third, I would honestly stay away from LC's, especially when you're first starting out (especially an LC from spores). There is no way to tell if an LC is clean just by looking at it, you will need to shoot up a test jar or two and then if it turns out dirty then you have wasted a bunch of time and have to start all over again at square one. This can be very discouraging for people in their beginning experiences.
