***1st time Cultivation*** B+/PE BRF spawn bags to mono tube
    #18907036 - 09/29/13 12:51 PM (10 years, 4 months ago)

1st timer in growth stages of colonizing my 1/2 pint brf jars of PE and B+.  Once they are completely frosty white with mycellium i plann to use eatyualive's mofo tek with 1 colonized jar to 4 sterile brf substrate to make spawn bags. Here is where i am at a crossroads.
-Once my spawn bags are colonized what substrate should i mix it with to colonize to a monotube?
-Would it be "safer"(1st time so fruiting is more important than yield) to just case the bags and throw in fruiting chamber?
- If so what would an optimal casing consist of for this spawn to grow on ?

What's a monotube?
I'm not familiar with the tek, but if you go to bulk
you'll want a sub that consists of: coco coir, vermiculite
and possibly some other additives. If you fruit straight out
of the bags, you'll still get a decent yield.

 evidently its just spawn mixed into a corresponding size of tub then mixed in with substrate to fully colonize with low FAE., Have you used Coco choir much with BRF ?

BRF is not bulk substrate material.

If you spawn to sterile BRF, it will contam.

Spawn the BRF cakes to coir/verm/manure/straw/etc.

Spawn the BRF cakes to coir/verm/manure/straw/etc.

It sounds like you plan on transferring the cakes to grain, then the grains to bulk, when you could just do cakes to bulk.

No.

Spawning to bulk is safe, granted the spawn is fully colonized, and the substrate was properly pasteurized.

No need for a casing layer, although it might help the PE perform better.

Just spawn the cakes to a pasteurized bulk substrate and fruit it.

Thanks much for your input.for future jars would you opt for wbs? (and what size of jars do you use / spores cc for inoculation?) Atm im using small 1/4 quart jars and for the most part the spores are taking a loooong time to myc-colonize. Another thing i shook my B+ spore syringe very hard but despite my efforts the "spore chunk" didnt disperse within the water, when i inculcated the whole piece which wasnt much granted went into the first jar. Is my syringe going to be still potent with spores?

I use quart jars, and yes I prefer WBS.

I do not use spores to inoculate my grains, I use agar wedges.

But the less spore solution you use per jar the better, they are very "potent", for lack of a better word.

Just a few drops per jar is all that is really needed to get growth, but You could go with up to 1cc per jar if you like.

All you would be doing is adding more possible genetics.

Yes, there are still millions of microscopic spores in the syringe.

The "chunk" was just that, a chunk of them....there are still more.
