Active ID request

My buddy found this today and sent me this pic. It appears to be active because of the blue bruising on the base of the stem, but I can't pinpoint the species. I am guessing it's an old gnar baeo. He thinks it's a stuntzii but I just don't see it. Help?

Maybe a stunzii. Does it have a ring?

No. And that's what made me lean towards a baeo. And the stem looks a little too strong for a stuntzii.

I would guess P. stunzii, sometimes they just don't have a ring.

I wish this wasn't an after-thought, but you should also study up on Psathyrella in case you are not familiar with the genus.

The cap is way off. I've never seen one that gets so old the color of the gills comes through and changes the color of the cap and I've seen some gnarly old cyans. I think there's a much higher chance it's a stuntzii as everyone said.

What kind of habitat did he find it in? like livestock fields? Parks? In sod? In wood-chips?

Im gonna say stuntzii. Ive been finding them for years. Yes sometimes stuntzii don't have rings. And the color of the cap is way too dark to be a cyan. Nor is it the shape of a cyan at all. Ive had pretty thick stuntzii's before that were like a centimeter thick, hollow of course. They can be pretty strong.

Alright cool. I definitely will take your word for it. I don't think I've ever interacted you on here but I've seen your name on here elsewhere. I figure you've been around for quite some time.

you can see where part of the ring remains, almost right in the middle.

I kinda thought that was the ring. Just doubted it a little cuz it's so low down the stem. Thanks guys.
