Is it too late to start a P. Allenii outdoor bed in my area?
    #18916893 - 10/01/13 03:46 PM (10 years, 4 months ago)

I only recently got a new Psilocybe Allenii print,
and I wanted to know if it's too late in the season (October)
to start them on Agar and so on.
Is it too late to get fruits?
I live in the center of California where December and January
get very cold and rainy.

Im very eager to start. I just need some buy some Agar at a
local R-N store. I couldn't find an answer for this topic.

But yeah id say its too late dude. Youd want to be spawning to outdoor patch already at this point if it really gets as cold as you say... how cold exactlu

lol
Hmm uh, ahem, well...
I think Deserts get very cold at night sometimes.
Although where I live it's called a Semi-arid climate
In other words, it displays  Mediterranean characteristics,
but in Cali.

Hmm I see, thanks for the info
I must start the spores in January eh? Is that correct?
This part of CA gets down to 29-35 degrees F at the coldest
in the winter.

Bummer man, I guess I gotta wait

I forget where but I read you can grow it indoors but its a bit difficult so you could try in indoor grow, but itll require alot of research and itll wont be as good as an out door grow but hey its better then nothing

After giving this some thought, I think that you should just thoroughly learn how to do agar and then go from there, it seems like that would be the most likely way you'd succeed with this. Maybe you can do a bunch of research on how to do agar, so when the time comes next year you can start your project and you'll know exactly what to do.

And you can keep your beds alive for a long time if you use the woodlover smoothie tek basically taking a few of your mushrooms each year and blending them in water and pouring on your bed to recycle the spores.

In the meantime you can just do cubes/pan cyans, but definetly learn how to do agar/cultivate wood lovers so next season you will have a bed.

Thats not that cold. You might be able to still. They fruit a lot more north of that in the middle of winter
