So for most of my life I would never have expected to be famous...would never have asked for it. Always been a fairly introverted person actually. But then getting older and playing music, it seems like success is in some way measured through fame and popularity.
And now in the age of the internet, you can have literally any 'level' of fame, you can be famous on youtube, facebook, even the shroomery. I dont know what to think about it, cause I am fine with a simple life and definitely dont want to be a 'celebrity' but it seems like to fully live life you should be able to experience everything it has to offer.
So what I'm asking the pub is would you want to be 'famous' or really well known, to what level, or do you think the whole thing is ridiculous?

Idk, being known amongst the psytrance scene is well enough "fame" for me.
Being famous isn't for me

nice, see that's what I think is the best also...just being known in some scene.
but when i say 'fame' i mean any level like i would count that as some level of it. or for instance, the most views i have ever gotten on soundcloud is like 60 where as some people get way more and i'm like 'damn, i wouldn't mind that at all'

I wouldn't want to be famous, but I believe being well known is integral to the advancement of our lives.
Without human social interaction, be it online or IRL, you're not going to get very far in life.

well they dont gotta be loose lol but yeah social networking is key to scoring dates or a girlfriend or w/e
okay and to take it to the next level, once you become at the top of a scene, say through being in a band or something, if you were ambitious enough you could literally skyrocket the entire scene to national prominence or more. it wouldn't have to be all about 'you'
i think this is a great way to happen and only comes about when you really have a message that needs to get out there. something that goes beyond personal desire and actually serves a universal function.

once upon a time i was famous in my town for having quality LSD... the reward for my fame: a pair of stainless steel bracelets & a probation officer... i'm quite happy with obscurity now...

Fame is definitely not in the cards for me. There is already too many pseudo celebs with no discernible talent ruining music, tv, movies and the internet.

That would suck, IMO.
I would hate to be recognized as a face while doing everyday things in public.
It would suck to meet new people just to have to deal with their preconceived notions of who I actually am.
I'm content with being a guy my friends like.

ya, even if i was ever able to acheive something that became really well known, i think it would be way better and awesomer to be behind the scenes.
i mean, as a perfect example, look at Kurt Cobain. I remember reading about him that he always wanted to be a 'legendary footnote' rather than a 'well known chapter.' actually he ended up doing both but, in the end fame contributed to his destruction.

ive been famous my whole life and its really not that bad. you get use to it after awhile.
at first i was like,
"mom, dad. leave me alone!" "grandma, STOP CALLING!"
constantly being followed by my dog was beyond annoying though. he was there when i awoke, while i was eating, bangin my chick...
im use to it now, though.

I don't think it was the fame that did him in it was most likely suicidal depression caused by heroin addiction and a failed marriage but I imagine the fame didn't help.
