Big straw pasteurization suggestions

Hey guys, just looking for some suggestions for a mass straw pasteurization technique or suggestion. I'm going to have to pasteurize roughly 40 bales of straw. Does anyone have any experience or idea on how to do something of this volume? I've been searching and I've seen 55 gallon drums but that only fits a half bale. So instead of having 80 55 gallon drums, is there another route to take? Any knowledge on the matter is much appreciated.

Straw is better chopped up first then right off the bale... That's why it's good to use a leaf-shredder and vacuum it all up into a bag as it gets chopped.

As far as doing 40 bales of straw at once, I dunno about that. Why not do it a batch at a time and store your bales properly (dried)? Just an idea.

Also you mention straw ... but then you call it hay. Is it bales of straw or bales of hay ?

Sorry, was extremely dabbed out at the time. I'm going to be using straw, and had the intention of chopping up before hand. I thought I had read that each 55 gallon drum could only hold half a bale chopped up. As far as properly storing, I didn't know that was a possibility. Could you direct me in the right area for the techniques?

If you have the room, construct an airtight, foam panel insulated room, add shelving, fill up burlap sacks full of straw and equip the room with any kind of steam generator(i.e.Pressure Cooker) piped in via rubber fuel line connected to your PC steam valve

And this could work as a mass pasteurization or just as a storage for the pasteurized bales? Space is of no issue.

Could use as both. You could build it as big as you like,so long as you have ample steam to pipe into your pastuerization box

Any suggestion on what can provide ample amount of steam for a room the size of 15 x 15? I'd need to fit about 40 bales in there.

Use a 55 gallon drum and start small. The reason is that despite best intentions, you're going to screw up your first few grows. It's better to screw up 100 lbs of substrate and the required spawn than 6,000 pounds of substrate and the required spawn. RR

Only thing to add to this thread is use a wood chipper to shred the straw, makes light (somewhat) work, and I don't mean the one that has a plastic twine like a weed eater, but big metal shears that uses gasoline wear a mask
You can also store one bale (shredded) in a 55 gallon drum (packed).
but would only use half that much to properly pasteurize in the barrel, with a big wooden paddle, you're ready to go
