Ok i got one jar half done...
    #1891540 - 09/07/03 05:45 PM (20 years, 7 months ago)

the whole half-top of it is pure white mycelium. took off the cap placed it in a terrarium. kept it in the jar and sprinkled vermiculite ontop.

i cleaned the terrarium out with bleach then water. sprinkled vermiculite on the bottom for moisture. ooo wait i just thought about that and yea mold could grow on it. i better clean that up.

ok and i have tin foil over top. it fit perfectly.

my house is kinda cold. 75' ferinheight all over. so is it alright if i leave this little light on beside the terrarium? will it grow with 24 h light? with the light its at 80'F. perfection.

ok thanks guys/gals.

maybe i can help you a little.

there is no way it should take a month for a half-pint to colonize. unless you used a really big jar. even then a pint takes 2 weeks maybe a little more. since it seems you don't have temps down here's the lowdown in general.

when getting jars to colonize keep at roughly 85, can be lower and still get good results. after birthing keep at roughly room temp ie 75.

more info would be nessecery to help you any further, so there is not much more i can add. except make sure you have air exchange in the jars un-tape your holes if needed.

read, read and the read some more. there is very good info here and other places.

they have been at 75 the entire process. and yes its taken a month and some arent even half done but 30% done. i did pack some down with a really kinda moist mixture but those are the ones doing the best. the next batch i did i made loose and airy and moist. and they are taking the same time.

i dont get it. maybe im just a dumbass.
