First time contams! Help!

I just checked my jars 5 days after inoculation. 1/2 pint brf cakes, followed RR videos as closely as possible. They have good growth on all except for no growth on one and then this one that has growth at all four spots, plus a dark gray/black spot right at one of the inoculation sites. I'm pretty sure the jar is trash at this point, if I need to save the glass jar what should I do? Also is there any way this cake can be saved? Is it possible the mycelium will kill this contam? Pictures included are of all four inoculation points, you can see the beginning of mycelium and then my trouble spot, any input is appreciated!

Some would say bin the whole jar. Otherwise u could sterilse the jar in a PC. Personally I would ditch the ocntents outside and then wash the jar away from yr grow room with bleach solution and warm soapy water. That's why I have done and never had a repeat of contams I've had

Would a disinfectant spray be just as good? The one I have says it kills mold spores and bacteria. It also says its used in hospitals

The best way to disinfect is to wipe away all visible material and residue with a sanitizer and soap, then pressure cook or autoclave.
The spray you've got may be good enough, but remember to really get in there and scrub out -everything-! Manual removal of all physical debris is key.
Good luck!

Oops sorry I thought you meant to spray in and kill the contam
It's prob be fine for cleaning the jar out afterwards I reckon

Thanks for the input! Just found two more contaminated jars. but hopefully next round I can be more sterile. I didn't wipe the injection spot with alc like I've read people do, does anyone have experience with this cutting down contams? I don't take the foil off the jars after boiling for 90 minutes until its in my sanitized glove box and I'm ready to inject so I feel like that's not the source

I'm in the middle of a failed grow at the moment. Our screw ups in terms of sterilization were not sterilizing the needle after every jar, not working in the most sterile of environments (no SAB was used), and we may have contaminated our entire syringe and its contents by opening it up a day or two prior to inoculation.
You may want to wait longer than 90 minutes before you inoculate. Many people wait 8 hours to let the entire thing cool off. After all, if you inject your spores into the jar and it's too hot for them to survive, you have a dud jar that will either do nothing or just become a bacterial cesspool.
I have also seen that micropore tape or medical tape are good to use over the holes along with your tin foil while sterilizing in a PC or pot. I will be trying these methods out next week when my next syringe arrives. Happy growing!

Wiping down the injection spot shouldn't be necessary if you're keeping the tin foil on until it cools down and you inoculate. Micropore tape also doesn't really do anything if you have a vermiculite layer that acts as a filter. You are using a glove box though, which should prevent contams from the air, meaning that it must be the syringe you're using, or possibly from moving the jars around you disturbed the filter layer of verm, allowing contaminants to get in. Also make sure to flame sterilize the needle between each jar. Better luck next time, or with the rest of your jars if they're still going well

Yeah I thought I was keeping everything pretty clean, sterilize the needle between jars, shower and put on fresh clothes, wear a face mask, latex gloves, etc. My syringe is from ralph, but ive used it three different times, i wipe down the whole syringe with alcohol before i start. It may be that when checking the jars the verm shifted in the jar from holding it at an angle, also I was wondering could the needle leave a little gap down into the substrate? I was thinking of tapping the jars after inoculation to let the verm settle back into those holes, but I wasn't sure if it would be helpful or hurtful
