Inactive , most likely a cereus species. Not San Pedro. Definitely worth growing though.

"Found these on the side of the road" usually indicates that you stole them from someones property. I could be wrong, but, I don't understand why someone would just toss perfectly good cactus out of their car onto the side of the road. Those are a common Cereus species that you will often find in a nursery. Ones that size, when potted up, can sell for up to $100 around where I live.

How to make friends in the EG.
Rule 1 : Don't junk plants just because they wont give you a buzz. Rule 2 : Don't take what isn't yours ( not saying that you did but worth remembering ) Rule 3 : Don't delete your photo once you have your answer to your question.

Y U NO ask PERMISSION FUR cuttin' dem PLANTZ?
You have cut someones nice decoration cereus dude!
If cactus is outside of urban area, growing no ones property, I understand to cut small section or take branch from it. Do not cut plants growing around there where people are build. As far as I understand, you have cut cactus from someones property? That's not cool... It's cool if you ask permission.
And if you don't know the species, don't go chop cactus plants to get psychedelic buzz as I have understand the purpose of your action?
..it's very easy just to spent money and buy trichocereus cacti from nursery, there are nurseries at every continent! Don't steal, even cactus can give buzz..but you have possible stolen pieces of cactus what is not even active one
