Of course not. They make record earnings all the time and yet they still pay like they are about to be out of business.

Its Walmart after all, its built upon supporting sweat shops and oversea factories which is why their prices are so low and why they drive out every small business over time.

How they justify it, I don't know.

Yup. They earned it.

Perhaps those that are incapable of earning more should have focused a little better and played less video games.

That is rather convenient for you to say. Yeah they totally earned it by profiting off of slave workers across the sea and paying minimum wage here.

What the fuck ever man.

http://www.businessweek.com/articles/2013-06-06/costco-ceo-craig-jelinek-leads-the-cheapest-happiest-company-in-the-world
Quote:

Despite the sagging economy and challenges to the industry, Costco pays its hourly workers an average of $20.89 an hour, not including overtime (vs. the minimum wage of $7.25 an hour). By comparison, Walmart said its average wage for full-time employees in the U.S. is $12.67 an hour, according to a letter it sent in April to activist Ralph Nader. Eighty-eight percent of Costco employees have company-sponsored health insurance; Walmart says that “more than half” of its do. Costco workers with coverage pay premiums that amount to less than 10 percent of the overall cost of their plans. It treats its employees well in the belief that a happier work environment will result in a more profitable company. “I just think people need to make a living wage with health benefits,” says Jelinek. “It also puts more money back into the economy and creates a healthier country. It’s really that simple.”

They both make more than I do

If Walmart starts paying higher wages, price of everything in stores go up, a bunch of stores must close because there is not enough money to pay people at all the stores, people quit shopping there because of ridiculously high prices, in the end Walmart collapses. So as an heir to a business lets make sure we completely destroy our families legacy by giving hand outs to people. Walmart is in business to make money not give someone a job, as an employee you are less important then toilet paper, if there is only enough money for toilet paper or an extra employee, I gurantee there will be toilet paper for current employees and customers to wipe their ass with and the extra employee won't be there.

I don't understand why people bitch about wages, go start your own business, I didn't like the $8.95 I made at Starbucks for years, I started my own company and now bill out at $100-$125 an hour depending on the job. If your wage sucks do something else staying at a job that under pays is a choice, people who understand logistics of business know you can't just start paying people a bunch of extra money it is not sustainable, the margins on a lot of businesses are super thin to begin with. If I have $300 an hour allotted to pay employees  at $10 an hour I can give thirty people jobs, everyone starts bitching wanting $20 an hour and I being the nice guy I am, comply with the demands, unfortunately 15 people get the $20 an hour and the other fifteen get fired because I can't pay them, an extra $300 an hour just doesn't materialize in my budget. It may suck but it's a fact people start business to make money and you can't do that if you over pay everyone that works for you.

Why would I not be okay with it? Let me know when a wal-mart employee is worth being paid more than minimum wage.

Well, Walmart employees are responsible for the billions they pull in. I think that has some value.

How much, then, should an entry-level Wal-Mart employee be paid?

Min wage should be like 10$/h....... that is 400 a week tops if they work 40, 1600 a month. That is barely enough to rent an apartment, eat, pay for gas, insurance and to save some money...

Wages need to be livable on... you shouldn't go to work knowing you fall under the poverty line when the CEOs make billions upon billions yearly
