I asked a question on a post and roger rabbit closed the thread because To him it was a stupid question that could be researched and not by bumping a thread. Upon searching for a Freakin Day on this site..i still do not know what bumping a thread is. I have had the hardest time finding good information on this site. Example try and search the meaning of bumping a thread .

When you post "Bump" on a thread it moves it to the top of the section you posted in, so it isn't achieved in pages down the line where it's less likely that someone will see it.
No question is a stupid question. However you can almost always find the information you're looking for if you just look...

Everytime someone comments on a thread it "bumps" it to the top. Get it?

i am alittle slow on the uptake on this site. I think I understand that when ever I post, it brings the thread to the top. I am just not sure to the top of what? I also don't understand why its not cool to ask a question in a thread even if it has been asked before? If its not cool to ask questions what is a forum for? Because I am sure that EVERYTHING has been answered at some point if you can find the RIGHT answer.

eelrd72, it bumps it to the top of the specific forum you posted in like "Mushroom cultivation" "the psychedelic experience" "Contamination forum" "Advanced mycology" etc, etc, etc. Get it? You posted this in "Mushroom cultivation" if you post on a thread it will automatically go to the top of this specific forum for others to see. *Facepalm*
And it's not that it isn't cool to post a question.. but when the same question is asked hundreds of times a month it gets a little bit aggravating, when you could simply use the search function and look for it. Upon using the search function and you can't find the answers to your questions then feel free to post.

when nothing comes up after searching, try rephrasing it. I searched for "thread bumping" and returned a lot. Was you asking something to do w/ temperature?

I google the words or expressions used on forums every time you guys throw out terms like iirc, qft, bumping threads and whatnot It's a god tip if you also struggle a bit with terms or words.

yeah it was about room temperature....and I only asked the question on this thread..well for one...room temperature can vary...for example i asked my friend what he keeps his room temp...he said 70...and i thought to myself..well my wife makes me keep temp at 75. But I really just commented on the thread because I finally found some information on agar that I had been searching and Its the way..Im able to see it on my threads list so I could refer back to it.Is there another way to save a thread without bumping it? I read it can be a three day suspension from this site for excessive bumping? reminds me of highschool..rules

Any temperature that you feel ok with inside is ok for mushrooms too. Think about what happens to them outside. It's more of a swing than 65-75 that they're exposed to and they do just fine.

if it's your thread it's automatically saved.
if it's someone else's thread it's not a bump and you can post in it to save it to your threads or just press the save this thread in my shit button.

I think what he's saying is that he was informed that he should of searched more then going to an old post and bumping it for an answer.
But on the same note, we're told to search out threads and not to create a new thread. I try not to create a bunch of threads that are already out there...and i may add a question to it too. But the way you word your searches play a huge role in what your result's will be
My room temperature is definitely different than most of your's. I've read not to let jars/petri's and the such colonize in over 83*F and should be below that because inside the jar and such it's warmer. That's why i've been waiting to do anything. Temperature is a huge factor for me.

if 83F is your room temperature it's just not ideal. These things grow in Texas and Florida and have lived through 100F days. Obviously these temperatures help along contamination in a home setting but if that's all you have to work with it's not like it's not worth the shot.

For sure, Fall is here and the weather is changing I can easily heat an area vs. cooling. I've been waiting till temps dropped to 83 as i've read, but wasn't sure on how exact that is. And agar, do you know what temp it start's to liquefy? Just trying to prepare for Summer again! lol Thanks man

Agar has to get pretty hot to liquify. Agar work might be more difficult at those temperatures but you won't have liquidy problems. You could also use like 10-20% more agar in the recipe. I always have to have the agar so hot that It's not quite pleasant to touch to make it liquify.
