I just bought this book the other day, Junky by William Burroughs
It's very entertaining so far... Some of the drug information, especially on cannabis, is extremely outdated. It's fascinating.
Who has read this book? Thoughts on it?
I bought that one and and The Psychedelic Experience: A Manual Based on The Tibetan Book of the Dead by Timothy Leary, Ralph Metzner, & Richard Alpert. I've TPE online before and I have a copy of the TBOTD, but I thought it would be neat to have a copy of The Psychedelic Experience on hand for when I get my mushrooms or order some MXE.

Junky is a great book, read it when I was like 14. Recommended to me by mom, a long term borderline heroin addict. William Burroughs represents the lowest of the low. A heroin addict, a pedophile, a gay man. All in the 1950s. Fascinating. He shot his wife in the head IRL while trying to shoot an apple off her head.

I read that book around half a year ago. William S. Burroughs has been my favorite author for around a year followed by Hemingway.
Junky is a great book but it doesn't get Burroughs's voice out there like his other books. If your brain can handle a lot of jumping around and insanity then look into 'Cities of The Red Night'
His nova trilogy is also amazing and I am 2/3 done with that. Naked Lunch really got him out there and put a voice to his name.
I'm reading 'I Celebrate Myself' at the moment and it follows Allen Ginsberg's life from when he was a baby until when he passed. Burroughs is not exaggerating his story in Junky, he seriously lived on the verge of death constantly. On a side note, that book about Ginsberg is extremely entertaining because it digs into Allen and all of his Beat poet friends such as Jack Kerouac and Burroughs.
