Autumn/Fall appreciation thread
    #18911740 - 09/30/13 03:19 PM (10 years, 4 months ago)

The leaves around here are changing colors.

That's sort of like the only thing I particularly like about Autumn (aside from the Halloween spirit), but that's not to say such beauty goes on un-noticed.

:awepreciation:

Please discuss and communicate your appreciation for this blessing the world bestows upon us.

I remember reading those Scary Stories books at the book fairs in grade school, the only story I can remember is the one where the girl thinks she has a pimple until it burst open and spiders pour out of her face.

Best time of the year. The crisp, cool air. Vibrant colors. The warmth of summer slowly parting each time the sun is out. AH

Really though. And in celebration of autumn this upcoming weekend I'm going to dose myself silly in the woods. Small festival in the woods + miles of hiking trials + some good LSD. Oh man the colors I'll see :trippinballs:

To me, fall has always meant heaven for my taste buds. Not so bad for my nose either.
When I was a kid I was always so excited to go pick apples at my neighbors farm, drinking/bringing home fresh cider too. Soon after that, pumpkin pie, and before too long- the best feast of the year  (thanksgiving)

Now that I'm old and like pretty much any food, I'm even MORE excited each year
All kinds of fresh veggies- beans, squash, peppers, tomatoes; all delicious. I don't eat apples much but I'll still be getting some soon when Fuji's are done growing.
Nowadays it also means cheap outdoor weed and harvest (wet-hop) beers.
Wallet thanks me for the cheap weed, but I'm sure I spend more on beer this season than any other :tongue2:
Wet hop beers are expensive, but there's no comparison IMO.
Its the same difference between freshly cured weed and dry stuff that's been sitting in a freezer for 6 months.

Now that I live in So Cal, the autumn change isn't nearly as dramatic as I had grown accustomed to in Washington. It's nice though that it's not so hot and the evenings are kinda fresh and cool. Halloween is always fun too. I'm thinking about going to Knott's Berry Farm for the Knott's Scary Farm deal they do for late night.

And I've harvested my ganja plants, so there's that too.

I went to "Fright Fest" at 6 flags on a threshold dose of LSD a while back.
Funniest "trip" (in quotes because it was low and incredible easy to handle) I've ever had.
All the workers dressed up like vampires, monsters, sneaking up behind you and hissing
Would repeat in a heart-beat.

I'm sure Snot-berry farm :tongue2: would be even better. Never been, but I've only heard awesome things.

This! I love the cool crisp fall air, and of course the changing leaves, but I  really love phasing out of summer foods into tasty, hearty, comforting fall and cold-weather foods. :drooling:

I go from drinking teas to drinking coffee once fall hits, and cider is good too. All the comfort foods of Thanksgiving and Christmas. Candy corn for Halloween, all the other candy..fucking Christmas candy. Tasty pies and fudge and all kinds of desserts. Hearty soups and stews. Turkey for Thanksgiving and Christmas.. I could go on and on but yeah I love cold-weather comfort food.

I like that its cool enough to leave my window open overnight, and then waking up the next morning hearing the birds outside, and being all cozy and snug under my comforter because it got so cold during the night because of the open window. Cold air with lots of warm blankets = goooood sleeping.

Its also the best time of year to go hiking, and I'm so looking forward to hiking and tripping these next few months.

Also holidays, bonfires, comfy warm cold-weather clothes.. Fall is the most festive time of year and my favorite season.

Only Southern?? Abq isn't so bad right now either :tongue2:
They got the balloon fiesta in a couple weeks, and I'm sure right now you can't open a window without smelling the chile's roasting :drooling:

I was fishing once in a little river in the sacremento mountains, and suddenly these big, fat, red apples coming floating by.  I grabbed a couple and fuck where they sweet, so I walked up creek to see where they were coming from.  Some farmer had put cows in an apple orchard and those cows were literally pulling branches with 4 or 5 apples at a time off the trees and chewing them up... :rofl2:

Some Fall pictures I have taken over the past few years. The cats are my pets, and the armadillo was seen on a fall hike. I got so close to him I tapped his shell and he didn't even notice, because he couldn't hear me for the rustling leaves that he was digging under, looking for food.

fall is about death, when you do death meditation, you may think of the changeing of the seasons fall and winter

i want to quit smoking but i dont, my gf did though, i cant believe it, she just stopped out of the blue

i got one left for tonight, my e cigrette broke though and i dont have cah to buy a new one

i actually like the leaves green, red is just a nice novelty

i like how poison ivy turns red before everything else around here, so i can avoid it easier

anyone going to play counterstrike tonight?

i keep switching guitars, but i dont get any better, barre chords are a bitch
