Can you clone tissue from the cap without using agar to grow mycelium in?
Someone said you can just put it in a plastic bag and it will grow fine in that. Will that work?

I have seen tissue added to grain jars and that started colonizing. I never saw the end result though.

There is ghetto brf agar recipes you can do in half pint jars lol. Though i would use a pressure cooker and make up some agar from one of the recipes on here, and pour some disposable petris.

the results are not worth the effort, but it's easy enough to use flour and water in a half pint

Did you see the experiment I'm talking about? The guy took a fresh fruit, made a biopsy of the interior tissue from the mushroom and dropped that tissue into a quart jar of sterilized wbs. This was done inside a still air box and the tissue actually started to grow out and colonize the wbs. I don't know what happened to that thread or what results the guy got.

Notahacker420 and I have both successfully taken tissue to grain but it's a crap shoot. I would recommend doing several jars because some will contam. Actually I would just recommend agar. It is really fun to work with anyway

If I remember correctly hacker did 10 jars and got one good one. I did one jar and somehow got lucky I probably couldn't do it again if I tried.

How did you do it exactly? I think it definitely makes a difference where the sample came from on or in the mushroom. Thank you for the input btw, I have been curious about the results of that thread since I saw it.

I took a tissue sample from the center of a stem and used it to inoculate a liquid culture. Is this not a clone? Like if I suck up 10 syringes out of it are they not all the same clone culture?

Just buy agar and 10 petri dishes, it will cost 10$ tops. And it is so worth it, cloning on agar is fun. Seeing the mycelium spawn out is beautiful

A QUESTION.
I have a big mushroom I want to clone, but can't get around to it until tomorrow. I picked it and put it in bag in my fridge.
Will it still be ok to clone tomorrow or the day after?
