post-lunch fatigue

i've always wondered why i'm always tired as hell after lunch and i've realized why...my shitty ass diet. alot of times i hit up fast food joints during lunch because it's quick and cheap. thing is, that stuff is GARBAGE. for example, i just ate a mcnugget meal and feel even MORE hungry now (not to mention i'm tired and sluggish).
so basically, what are some options i can make for myself at lunch so i don't have to keep eating this horrible, terrible fast-food anymore? i need food that gives me an energy boost mid-day...not this greasy, fat-ass junk food that makes me wanna take a nap.

Salads with a lean protein I find the best for avoiding post meal tiredness.

Lentils, lean protein (meat, boiled eggs or cottage cheese), and mixed salad. Gives you an energy boost like you wouldn't believe! And is good for you.

I always find eating a solid breakfast is key to my day far as energy goes. just don't eat junk for lunch.

i've heard alot of people say that meat is a good mid-day food source because of the protein and whatnot.
why then, do the mcdonalds chicken/burgers make me feel like total garbage? i know they're super high in fat, but shouldn't that protein give me *some* energy? or is mcdonald's really as bad as everyone says lol...(i'm starting to think it is)

The food is super processed and is hard for your body to digest.

what are some sources of meat that are easier to digest and won't make me feel sluggish as hell afterwards? i'm definitely done with the fast-food for lunch....

Those things at mcdonalds are about 1% meat and 99% toxic shit like fat and additives. And those nasties cancel out the protein. Especially chicken nuggets, heavily processed chicken leftovers with breading, fats and who knows what else. Try eating lean chicken breast or leg cooked on olive oil, it bears absolutely no resemblance to the 'chicken' products from mcdonalds.

that's fucked up. i always thought that the image of mcdonald's as this super-unhealthy restaurant was a bit exagerrated (it's only burgers and chicken right?)...but after eating it alot lately i'm starting to realize just how bad this shit really is...it's no joke man.
you can eat tons of this shit and it doesn't even fill you up...just makes you more hungry and TIRED. lol.

I got to 300lbs eating that shit, and not even all the time. But I was constantly hungry and tired. When you start eating your own cooking from fresh ingredients, you'll not be able to believe how detoxifying that is! Those poisons are everywhere, not just in fast food, but in bread and all the packaged food as well. My diet turned to shit last month, and I'm already feeling lethargic, tired and always hungry...

Look up the slow-carb diet (4-hour body). I lost 100lbs on it and felt amazing. Very cheap and easy to make your meals, contains everything your body needs. I'll be going back on it very soon.

just a meal after lunch?
maybe fix your overall diet, and sleeping patterns.
for example, find out your calorie maintenance so that your eating the proper amount of carbs/fat/protein so that your giving your body the proper fuel. also sleep at the same time every night and wake up at the same time everyday. the first week will be the hardest. the second week will be easier, the third or 4th week might become hard again but you must stick with it against all odds. pz
most of the time people are actually way-over undereating when trying to eat healthy, n then way-overeating when eating like a fatass.
the thing is with salad is that its only a 'side' food, it should Not ever be a main part of the meal in Any meal. you know how much salad you would need to eat to get to ten carbs? Your best bet is taking a handful and getting some EZEKIEL (organic sprouted) bread, yes thats natural bread of wholegrain without flour - n making some grilled chicken and throwing some banana peppers/handful of salad/spinach.

OP: drink plenty of water throughout the morning & day. most people are chronically dehydrated and dont even realize it, and it can make you fatigued more easily

OP - sounds like you should vastly improve your diet, and meams had a good point about staying hydrated.
However, it is worth mentioning that I eat a healthy whole food diet, and prepare 95% of my food myself, rarely eat out, and rarely eat snack foods ... and dispite this, I also get afternoon drowsiness.
One of the things that I have found to help is snacking every couple hours eating regular meals ala. breakfast, snack, lunch, snack, dinner) I get really low on fuel if I rely on the 3 meals a day. Say if I eat breakfast at 6:30am and wait until 12-1 to eat again I get a massive blood sugar spike which makes me drowsy, same with eating at noon and then dinner at 7, really drowsy.
Smaller regular meals are key. Whole foods (fruits and veggies and lean proteins) are key. Watch out for heavy meals in the afternoon - the process of digestion WILL make you tired.
Also make sure your not overconsuming caffeine and having a subsequent crash that wipes you out.
Although contrarian, I've started drinking a tea made with looseleaf green tea, yerba mate, lemon and honey in the afternoon and it really helps me carry me through the day.
-------------------- GO OUTSIDE.
