Scopolamine "The Devils Breath"

The thread posted today about Krokodil inspired me to share with everyone this documentary about "the scariest drug on the planet". After getting freaked out and realising that they've gotten in too deep the film crew decide against trying it (sorry to spoil that), but it is an eye opening documentary.

Already known about. It's actually sold on Silk Road. I was thinking about buying some to see what it does. I figure, if I usually take half a Roofie before I drink, taking this shit before I go to class will make shit easy. I'll do exactly what the teacher says! I'll get every answer right!

I'm not really in the loop, have never even been on Silk Road before. Just noticed how many threads already exist about it. I SHOULD HAVE USED THE SEARCH FUNCTION! FUCK! If I were to choose to become a criminal mastermind I'd use it to brainwash people to do my bidding, like Charles Manson, except I'd actually be guilty... Vice media probably over exaggerated the whole criminal element anyway, I guess that it's just a standard deliriant.

Datura and to a lesser extent Brugmansia are everywhere here as ornamentals, in residential gardens and even municipal planters. The spiky seed pods of Datura are pretty unmistakable.
Not worth fucking around with as a drug though IMO, the risk is too high. Extracts would be even riskier. The plants are beautiful though.

I think I'm too chicken shit for datura, though if I had to choose a deliriant to try that would be the one. It's the dry mouth and being unable to drink or piss aspect of it that makes me so apprehensive. The time may come for it some day, I need more psychonaut experience points first though. Is that what Scopolamine is, Datura? I apologise, I watched the documentary while high at a friends the other day.

Scopolamine is one of three main alkaloids found in a number of different nightshade family plants. Atropine and hyoscyamine are the other two. I believe atropine is more of a stimulant and the other two have depressant characteristics.
Brugmansia is the plant source they talk about in the documentary. They're closely related to Datura and are sometimes called "tree daturas." They sell them at garden centers sometimes. The flowers are very similar to Datura flowers but they tend to be bigger and point downwards.

Some do but few enjoy it and fatal overdose is possible, search on here or Erowid for accounts of its use. Carlos Castaneda's books are a big reason people get interested. Many people consider his accounts fictional though.
Datura reportedly is also the drug that was used to keep Haitian "zombies" enslaved, after a puffer fish toxin was used to cause their apparent death. European "witches" also used plants with the same types of alkaloids that were native to their area, e.g. mandrake, belladonna, henbane.

It has been known, yeah, if it's just a teenager looking for a free way to get high they'd be in for a big surprise though. It has a history of shamanic use, though only for those with a very strong mind. Henbane is another one, it is often associated with European witchcraft.
Psi: That zombie ritual really sparks my interest, supposedly it's what the movie "The Serpent and the Rainbow" is based upon, though I'm yet to see it myself.

I would be interested to check that book out too, I've only read about the topic in wikipedia. It sounds like the movie is a pretty loose interpretation, it was directed by Wes Craven. Still probably worth watching for the lols though.

I didn't realise that it was based on a book although I should have presumed so, I'll have to read it at some point, thanks for the accidental recommendation man.

Don't do it.
I thought it'd be fun or mind expanding, it wasn't. Even though I took a small amount of it, it was not at all an experience i'd like to repeat.
