Aes is incredible, but he's somewhat one-dimensional.
Yes, that dimension is multi-layered and totally unrelated to this dimension, but he can't be anything but Aes. Waddy, in comparison, successfully pulls off a multitude of characters for entire albums (and characters within the albums).
Aes is more like a narrator; he doesn't dive into the character, he narrates in his voice the whole time.

I once met him before he released his first rap song. My uncle said he saw him before he went into the studio that day to create that song, I can't remember what it was called right now but it was something I would hear people speaking of as if it was something that needed to be discussed, as if the song had taken a different meaning now that people were interested in it. My uncle told me he wanted that song to be played at his funeral, because in some ways he could relate deeply to the lyrics composed in it. So I must not suggest that he would be in anyway someone that couldn't be topped in rap performances, though, speaking personally I haven't ever listened to very much rap music. My friends listen to alot of rap music, but I usually don't, but, there are certain exceptions when it comes to that genre. I remember a friend let me borrow a cd from Eyedea, and I was going to play it after my wife went to tennis, which, she was planning on going to later with a girl she met last fall after a dance. Whom, after she realized that the girl had just moved back from France was actually pretending to be French when she was really Spanish. She detected that she was only incorporating the texture of a French accent while purposely concealing the fact of its acknowledged defects in proportion to the way she was pronouncing her words. Her mother also wanted to go to France last year, and she told her husband about it one day when they were in the park, a park I had heard about from a friend which in some ways resembled how I'd want a park to be. I remember she said that he came back from France a week before she first told him that, and they both were surprised when they realized that they were going to the same place. Her uncle said that she shouldn't go to France until Christmas, that is, that she should decide to go to Russia instead. He had recalled his experiences spent in Russia and she was oddly convinced that this was the "hotspot".

I clicked on this thread to say eyedea was the best rapper. Imagine my surprise when I saw the op. Aesop rock is also very good. Number 3 is wutang and then that's it no one compares.

no one really compares to anybody, that's why after you're two favorite new white rappers who rap about intellect and positives, you follow it up with an old school black rap group that raps about ghetto lyfe and slanging drugs, and banging heads; battle rap essentially.
NONE of that makes sense, does it? which is awesome. but yeah, my point stands, none of them are really comparable except guess who... the two white guys.

Wat? Have you ever listeners to wutang?
I don't see how Aesop rock compares to eyedea more than wutang. Aesop rock is hyper abstract. Eyedea is very literal. Wutang is in between.

Rapping about positives? LOL. Now I'm questioning if you've ever even listened to Eyedea or Watkins.
I'm surprised nobody mentioned MF Doom.

they spin tings in a positive manner, as in an enlightening manner, as in they try and intellectualize rap. Wu-Tang makes raps about gang banging on the streets.
WTF are you and Teamkiller talking about?
oh MF Doom. and Madlib.

by being "abstract", or however you call it, and not being "a-political" or "street".
