NFL.....a rich mans sport?
    #18907932 - 09/29/13 05:04 PM (10 years, 3 months ago)

Ive been interested in football recently. But it kind of seems like a rich man sport :smirk: There is almost no way to watch this phenomenon without money. And not even $10-15 we are talking over $250 just for the ability to watch YOUR team or want the ability to pick which game you want.

If you dont wanna pay direct TV an insane amount of money for 5 months of viewing time, you have to go to a bar.....which = money. And even they might not have YOUR team.

The best I can do as a broke college student without cable is read updates online, or listen on the radio. How fucking boring is that :bored: Listen to an action sports game on the radio? Really? How fucking stupid.

I wanna watch the strategy, I wanna see some violence, I wanna witness a mini warzone playing out before my eyes but I cant.

Its a crock of shit, and a rich mans game. :failboat:

But even then, I have to go out and spend money to do it. Unless I wanna buy a slice of cheese pizza and eat it over the duration of 4 hours.

I saw that free preview of NFL Red Zone and it was amazing. If I could afford it, I would definitely order that package. All the games in the Red Zone at your finger tips to see all the highlights basically. No down time.

dude I've got 5 games on basic cable today. and one more tomorrow. If you don't have tv go to a dive bar and sip on cheap beer. I fail to see how watching football on tv is anymore expensive than other sports. Tickets to games are outrageously priced, but I'd rather watch on tv anyways. I like to see the replays and close up shots.

I did the same here. Unfortunately I gotta watch Monday night games on stream or at a bar.

and how bout them seahawks? they are looking really damn good. Wilson is a beast.

How about my Dolphins? I'm thinking 4-0 after tomorrow night, but I might be delusional.

Seriously though digital OTA is pretty awesome, $20-50 on a tuner for the computer and you have a PVR. Not that I'm interested in watching sports on TV personally, but it is something it's good for. There is nothing "digital" about the antennas BTW, the frequencies are in the same range as the old analog signals.

None of the shit you listed requires being rich. I'm no where near rich and have the nfl package and go to games. If you have Internet just watch live streams like everyone has said.

Less now than maybe a decade ago, but the NFL is extremely accessible as far as sports go. Games are a few days a week. NBC, CBS, and Fox all carry games, and it's very easy to follow what's going on without having to watch games since they are so infrequent.

There are many reasons why it is so popular, one of them being how easy it is to watch and follow.

Even if you don't have a television you could go to a bar to watch and not spend a dime, or at the most buy like a beer and leave a nice tip to keep them happy. Just tell them you don't have television and want to watch some football. Or go somewhere like BDubs that is constantly busy and they won't even realize you're there.

It's entertainment. Millions of people wouldn't watch if it wasn't. I get that some people just hate sports -- some of them because they just straight up sucked at them growing up and got laughed at and shit and others because they think it's pointless, whatever. To each their own. But I happen to love watching sports. I find it entertaining to watch the best athletes on the planet compete at an elite level.

Implying that the fans of the sport are "sheeple"...good lord. What a fuck tard. Just because a person hates the sport doesn't make people who feel differently than them automatically sheeple.

:heytherebadboy:

So anybody watching the NFL is sheeple?

:trololol:

I thought that post was pretty bad too.

You guys should really try not to get trolled so hard.

My BF Dad has season Seahawk tickets club level. They are $300 per seat a game. I had no idea how expensive until I saw the price on my ticket

My cousin who has a friend that sells the tickets she doesn't go to for 300 for the season pass area. Working on it.

I still think the Riley Cooper thing was probably just totally blown out of proportion. While you could argue about the appropriateness of using the word nigger, and you probably shouldn't at all regardless if you're a professional athlete in a public setting, I bet he just said it to say it and it got overheard.

Yeah I agree, it was blown out of proportion. Sure, it was a dumb thing to say but I'm 99% sure he's no racist. He was just pissed and said something in the heat of the moment.

Some of his black teammates (Michael Vick being one of them I believe) said they view/viewed Cooper like a brother. Pretty sure an actual racist isn't going to get that close to anybody black, teammate or otherwise.
