auto mechanic advice needed
    #18906761 - 09/29/13 11:45 AM (10 years, 4 months ago)

Hi, ive got this 02 ford ranger 2.3 L

i got this code misfire on cylinder #4, so i took plug out and touched it too metal on the truck and started truck and got no spark.

so i tried a new cable still no spark,, I tried the plug on #3 and it sparks

so i know its not the plug or cable, seems no power is coming out of the coil, is there anyway to test it or anything else that would be doing this i could check before spending money on a coil? thanks

sounds like you already process of elemination'ed it.  swap the coils around and see if it makes another plug fail.

99 percent on that truck it is a coil.. as shaggy said swap the coils and see if the miss follows that coil.. it is the accepted way of testing coils.
