i think the issue with choosing for one or the other is allso that with a lot of surface to fruit from (like a laundrybasket) you probably get more but smaller mushrooms (wich equals more timeconsuming hervesting and maybe preparing to cook). allso, a laundry basket is more prone to losing moisture, wich might affect mushrooms produced. with a log you probably will have less mushrooms but bigger ones. but the mushroommass will probably depend mostly on genetics used, substrate and substrate preparation, and growingconditions, and less by the container it is fruited from.

certainly. I was just wondering more if all of these things were, theoretically, the exact same and the only variable was log or laundry basket, what the difference would be. but what you said definitely makes sense, interesting point about the humidity too. another noob question, what do you usually have to do for humidity with the logs/baskets compared to methods like monotubs and SGFCs? if I remember right the RR basket video cut away right as he placed the basket in what looked like an SGFC?

I think the main difference between the two is, straw logs you're mainly fruiting indoors, whereas the laundry basket you'd want to fruit outdoors. I'll be doing straw baskets outdoors pretty soon seeing as how its cooling down and raining more here in Washington.

This is correct. While a laundry basket can be fruited indoors, it loses a lot of water to evaporation and this needs to be replaced daily. That can be messy indoors but easily accomplished with a lawn sprinkler if outside.
With straw logs, only the fruits need to be misted, so they're easier indoors. If you found the cut up sample clips on the site, you saw the link to get the whole enchilada for $9. RR
