I cant wait till next year, I guess now, to get some good edibles! I think I got into this too late this year...just more time to study up is all tho :takingnotes: ... I found a couple lactarius indigo (spelling?) before I knew what they were and haven't found any since :frown:

in Georgia? I haven't been finding much of anything the last few weeks... maybe its just too dry lately? I dunno. I hope I am wrong but I have a few chant spots and I haven't even seen any pins in 3 weeks or so I believe.

Here's what I brought home from yesterday's hunt. Actually I know my area so well it's not really hunting, just picking:grin:

I've been hunting these grounds for four years now and this is the most prolific fruiting I've seen of the chants so far. Only got to scratch the surface yesterday.

Hopefully I'll make enough time to go deeper to the honey hole next time. Work has been super busy and it's starting to interfere with my hunting schedule:frown:

Keep up the great pics everyone!

New to the PNW, but not to Shroomery!

I moved here from the East coast, so I'm still learning about what's to be found.  The following is from about an hour's worth of hunting today in the rain, in a city park.  Fun day!

The mushrooms in your last three pics may have some potential. Kind of look like Gymnopilus sp. to me but I don't have too much first hand experience with them. Maybe a TI can shed some light. Welcome to the PNW, glad to see another person who escaped from the east and really appreciates the fungal bounty. Keep up the good work!

JoftheRocks, why don't you go out and find some doug firs and some hemlocks and
pick yourself some chants?

That's a damn good question, amigo. I'm gonna get on that! I'm new to the PNW, so it'll take some research first, but I imagine I'll find a nice Douglas fir forest before too long!

Nice dude, I just moved out from Pennsylvania.  Hunting out here is definitely a step up in the game.  First time I hit up the coastal forests I was like

Just ate one of these today. After eating my second species from the
deliciousus group I can say I am a fan. Big fan. Both identification books
that I have say the group is not really deserving of the name. I cant
disagree more.

Nice flavor. When the gills get crispy in butter or oil they have a fantastic crunch.

I want more.
