WBS secret tek

Well, after 46 lbs of WGS experiments I think I got its secret. This is for small batches only and not the bigger one.
Here is my last batch that worked out beautifully. I use 6 lbs of WBS on 7 quart jars. After I rinsed out the WBS and picked out the sunflower seeds, I soaked the WBS in warm water (from the water heater) for 2 hours and then heat the water on gas to a steeping temp (just before boiling.) Then covered the lid and wait another 2 hours for the WBS to expand. (Optional: Added to the soak was ~2 tblspoon of gypsum, one liter of cow manure tea, and one tablespoon of kelp juice from the bottle.) After that I strained the WBS for 2 hours and then scooped them into the jars to be PC. Straining is to get the excess water out. Maybe I can shorten the time like I did last time if I use a hair dryer. One batch I PC for 2 hours and the second batch I PC for 1.5 hours. The 2 hours batch has 25% cracked grains while the 1.5 hours batch was perfect. Next time I will PC for 1.5 hours with less soaking time say 2 hours or until the grains all expanded.
So what is the secret? Make sure the WBS has expanded enough. Make sure not much excessive water on the grains before PC in the jars. PC time not much difference either 2 hours or 1.5 hours as long as the grains are all hydrated from the soak. There is still more room for improvement. But so far I am happy and so is my mushroom myc. Anybody like to share their WBS prepping tek? How they have save time and energy.

My secret is to draw a smiley face on the jar before pressure cooking.

My secret is an ancient carnal ritual I perform with the jars my copraphagic grandmother taught me when I was a lad

IMHO, that's the secret. Start small and work your way up as your skills improve.

I found that the rye I have doesn't colonize well unless I boil for a few minutes then let sit for an hour or so then boil some more. Not sure why it doesn't just work with 10 min of boiling, but I've gone through a lot of rye and 2 months to figure this out. Not sure if this is relevant to your secret recipe, but hopefully it potentially helps someone.
