Has anyone ever used 4 OZ jars?

I had an 8 oz (1/2 pint jar) that I only filled 4oz of BRF/Verm substrate and then filled the rest of the jar with dry vermiculite. I'm currently fruiting and the cake with the 4 oz of substrate is producing fruits twice the size! I'm curious if anyone here has experience with smaller jars that 1/2 pint?

I did a few ~50ml ones. I didn't experience any major issues with it.

I don't think the size of the mushroom is relative to that of the substrate.. Not too sure if it can keep up with subsequent flushes when it's that small though; after all there are only so many nutrients in there..

Twice the size of the cake itself or twice the size of the fruits on the other normal-sized cakes? If you mean twice the size of fruits on the other cakes, I would guess it's just because the mycelium was able to fully consolidate faster and thus has a stronger hold on the smaller cake vs the larger ones.
I've read through other's experiences, and typically cakes that small have shorter flushes that are fewer in number, and less fruits due to the nutrients being used up faster. Interesting that you're seeing the opposite...

Size of the fruit is highly dependent on available water. Larger substrates can hold more water. But large fruits can be produce on very small substrates as long as they are continuously hydrated.
BRF cakes are extremely nutritious. mycelium depends on nutrition and fruits do not.

I get that water supply is the main thing, but if the cake is smaller, wouldn't the mycelium use up the nutrients faster? And wouldn't the health of the mycelium directly affect fruiting? Or are BRF cakes so nutritious that this cannot feasibly happen?
