Everything's done via Frank's guide. Rinsed thoroughly, sunflowers removed, soaked for ~18 hrs, brought to a boil and immediately removed from the burner and strained and dried. How's it look?

Looks good, I like to use a window screen to dry my grains instead of using a strainer. I always get contaminated jars just using a strainer because the grains in the middle are too wet and they get squishy which leads to slow colonization, which you want to avoid or contams which you dont want either obviously. Just make sure the grains are not wet on the outside, they should be dry.

I noticed the sopping sound as i got to the bottom of the strainer...makes since to dry on a large surface for consistency.
You can use a strainer but IME that takes along time and I get impatient which leads to contams it seems MR.Frank has more luck using strainers I wonder how long he strains for???. Plus it is like 4$ to build a cheap screen for air drying.

In smaller batches I just use a air blower to dry out the WBS before putting in the jars.

Thanks a lot guys! I have window screens but to be honest they're used so I'm a little concerned about using them for my WBS even though it'll be PC'd. But I think I might go get some new and construct a drying box for them. Cheap but effective. These passed the paper towel test and were completely dry to the touch after ~70 - 80m. PC'd and I'll knock her up in the morning in my SAB.
Cynical that is indeed heavy millet, I had some like that and I threw it away because I thought it wasn't retaining any water at all, so I went and found this stuff at Walmart for cheap as dirt. I forgot to add gypsum (>.<) but my waters never been that rusty, although the "sludge" on the top is always present. I'm doing up another batch now, don't see why I can't add it to this one when I do the heat up in the morning.
EDIT On second look I can't tell if it's really rusty or if that's just how deep the water is that's obscuring the seeds. My water is always murky after the soak with that "sludge" on top, but it's not that rusty colored. I think it was before, when I was using a similar kind of WBS.
