Lepiota or Chlorophyllum. I always get them mixed up.

You will need a spore print to tell them apart. Chlorophyllum will have green spores and the Lepiota will have white spores. Put that thing gills down on some dark paper and get back to us when you get a spore print!

It is Macrolepiota procera. Chlorophyllum molybdites doesn't grow in the UK, and Chlorophyllum rhacodes doesn't have green spores.

Well that clears things up for me and OP. I should really have this info stored in my database by now.

Thank you very much for the ID, I've seen this mushroom quite a lot in my area. It's good to know it's edible!

It's one of the best edibles. Try to find some that aren't fully open if you can. By the time they are fully open they are usually being eaten by maggots (and any partially open ones you find will open out after you have picked them if you give them time).
